Here is the problem.

8d - ( - 7c - 2d ) = ( 8d - (- 2d ) ) - ( - 7c )

= 8d + 2d - ( -7c )

= 10d - ( - 7c )

= 10d + 7c

Did I work this correctly? I am not sure if I worked the sign changes the right way. Any input would be appreciated.

yes, you did this correctly. there is a quicker way to do it though.

8d - ( - 7c - 2d ) .... distribute the negative sign to the parenthesis first to get

8d + 7c + 2d (negative times negative makes positive)

then combine for 10d + 7c .

A lot quicker, right?

Ans. 8d-(-7c-2d)

=8d+7c+2d
=10d+7c.

no the right way is:
8d-(-7c-2d)
8d(7c+2d) distribute your negative sign

56cd+16d2 <16d squared> multiply 8d to everything in the ( )
