Hornet in loft, help?

Question

When i was in my loft/attic sorting out some storage i found that their was a huge hornet, i only saw one and i tried hitting it with a towel and spraying an aerosol can at it, but its still their, any suggestions of how to kill it, and ow i can find out if their is a nest nearby, i dont want to kill one and have loads of others on the warpath, thanks

Don*t ever step on or swat a hornet or yellow jacket as they put out a hormone calling the others to battle and you could be seriously hurt. Set; off a bug bomb up there. One could have been a scout looking for a place to make a nest for the winter.
Get Raid at Wal Mart. look for a green box with black letters.
It is either in the garden or cleaning dept. Comes 3 cans to a box for nine dollars. It works.

Get a spray can of hornet killing insecticide. It will spray a thin stream 20 feet. Wait till evening when most of the hornets are in the nest and then spray to soak it with the poison. It will kill whatever is in the nest and will knock down any that come out of that nest (and that knock-down action will get them off the war path in a few seconds).

Bees are starting to hibernate at this time of year. I know it sounds crazy...but they do. They find their way into an attic or loft to last out the winter. They actually squeeze into small areas so they don't fall out...until it warms up again. best thing to do is get an aerosol bug bomb...place it in there during the hours of darkness. If you need to leave the house during that time...don't do it too late at night....just after sun down is best. That should take care of most of them.
