Low fuel or coolant lights are notoriously inaccurate. My advice is to ignore it and depend on your trip odometer. Zero the trip odometer when you fill the gas tank and when the mileage gets to 300, you know you need to fill up with gas again.

not all cars have a low fuel light an they don't always work. You said the gage is working an you should never go below a 1/4 of a tank Doing this keeps junk from getting into the pump an also helps keep the in tank pump cool all of this helps the pump last longer. bottom line is forget the light an watch the gage

Start measuring the gas milage then use the trip meter to calculate how may mile between fillups. Start worring when the fuel level sensor fails completely. Idiot Lights are for?

Try driving round with a full tank, rather than just getting from A to B on fumes.
