We should be wary of these two, plus India.
And yet they are friendly trading partners.
There are reasons that it can stay this way and there are also forces that will tend to make us not quite so friendly. Competition for oil comes to mind.

(forgive me for going a little off topic here; but this is a good reason for being very careful of wars not approved by other nations. We may find ourselves last in line for the oil as a result)

Anyway, China, Russia and India are certain to become more headstrong as their wealth and influence grow more, but that doesn't mean that we can't get along.

It does mean that their aims and wishes are going to have to gain some weight in our own calculations.

Yes we should, since when did Russia and China became honest with anybody? Friendly Trade Partners means honest dealings with one another, how come trade gap between China and the US is growing. They want to sell products and services to us but never buys from us instead buys from someone else. Russia on the other hand say something but does something else behind your back. If both countries cannot be honest with their own people how much can you expect them to be honest with us?

I really don't believe that Russia or China give a rats behind about the United States anymore. I feel they tolerate us because of trade issues but that they laugh at us as we plunge deeper and deeper into financial ruin.
and yes, they are growing in might and influence, and financially.
If the president wasn't so mired in spending billions and billions of dollars we don't even have and if he paid more attention to what is happening in those countries right before his eyes, our behinds would have long been out of Iraq...
we are a nation beleaguered, tired,
and losing
everything we once stood for..
pathetic
the next answerer is still another example of why we are so disliked throughout the world.
(Humm. so now, Russia and China are terrorists. tsk tsk..."Nuke'em he says. That is precisely why they have gone behind our backs and created their own nukes......sillyman)

I say we implement the Bush Doctorine and bomb both China and Russia now. We can not let them grow in influence any more than they already are. I mean, they could be real enemies in 20 years, so we should fight them there, so we don't have to fight them here. Nuke'm both. That way we will feel secure and know that terror will be prevented. Yeah...OK... Let's commission the brightest minds in the Pentagon to draw up the plans before it's too late.

Russia and China have more to worry from one another than from the U.S. (well, Russia is screwed on both account however).

The answer is no to both questions.

I think we should learn to cooperate with all nations. cooperation requires listening as wellas telling and negotiating rather than threatening.
