alot of people do not understand what happiness is until they get it. for the past 5yrs, i have been very happy and loving it - all of my problems are my problems (so i fix it), i have peace of mind and do whatever i want, whenever i want and however it turns out it's because of my decision - but to really understand it, you will have to go thru some things and to get out and appreciate your life as for being alone, sometimes, but im ok with that im happy - good luck

Happiness is a state of mind, not a reaction to a particular person, thing or event, you can be happy no matter what happens to you. You can be happy married, widowed, divorced, or single - or in whatever marital state you find yourself, because no one and no thing can cause you to be happy. In fact, people and things don't cause happiness at all. It's what you think about those other people or things that determines whether you feel happy or sad. Your thoughts - not outside events, the presence or absence of material objects, or other people - cause your feelings.
Other people can't make you happy. No one can make anyone think or feel or do anything. The only person who has that distinction is the person who owns the thoughts, feelings and behavior. When you accept this truth, then and only then can you be truly happy. If you stop waiting for circumstances to change in your life, you can make yourself happy - every day - no matter what life brings.

Happiness is a mind set.
I'm happier when I'm thinking of ways to improve different things and then acting on my ideas.
Think about what you like. Crafting, reading, computing, gardening, sewing, whatever. Doing something you like keeps the mind off being alone.
If you don't like being alone then go places where people gather--movies, coffee shops, art fairs, museums, high school sporting events, church.
Each of us has the ability to choose whether we are happy or not. It's the things we do that we like that make us happy. Or it could be what we do for others.
You'll have to find out for yourself what makes you happy.

Being happy and being alone are 2 different things. You can have plenty of people around you and still be miserable and you can be all alone in the himalayas and still be deliriously happy. Happiness is a state of mind acheived by control over emotions and mind.

You have to realise that being happy doesn't mean being connected to someone at the hip.
Keep busy, start a hobby; make a friend, or something.
With some time you may realise you can be even happier while out of a relationship than you are in.

You may be lonely, but your never alone! I believe we get those 2 words mixed up.
Last night, I came home from a nice night out with some friends, and as I walked into my apartment I realized I was lonely. I didn't mind being "alone", it was the "lonely" part that got to me. So, I called my daughter who gave me a pep talk which in turn she informed me; "half the world is going through what your going through, and you think your the only one...your not". "Some people are lonely even when their with someone, it's how you feel about yourself, if your happy with yourself by yourself".
I'm happy with myself because I'm my own best friend! Believe me, it took a while to get to that point. I'm the only person that creates my own happiness, and I'm the only to blame if I'm not!
My advise is BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND!

The key is you must love yourself totally first! be happy being alone is key because if you arent happy inside you are only going to be using the other person to fill your voids, and a relationship wont work like that!
