911 and the so called war on terror can trace it's roots to the Carter presidency. It was Jimmy Carter that advocated the overthrow of the Shaw, and mistakenly thought that the Ayatolla was someone that the US could work with. By not stepping in and squashing the Islamic regime in it's infancy, he allowed Iran to become a major power broker in middle eastern affairs.
None of the problems associated with Hezbollah, or these other Jihadist groups were present prior to 1979. They certainly were not as well funded or trained as they are today.
Thank you Jimmy Carter for the next 30 years of terror and strife.
