Does he just want money? if he had stayed at LSU for the rest of his career he could have challenged Bear Bryant's record and have been known throughout history instead of at the Bank.

I think you got something there - He could have turned LSU into a powerhouse like Alabama used to be known as. Oh well - his loss.

Good Luck!!!

Well "Master of Facts", you have some facts problems. Saban would be challenging Bobby Bowden's record. Saban only has 94 career wins and he's 55. That puts him at 31st in the list of active coaches wins which includes Lloyd Carr, Phillip Fulmer, Steve Spurrier, Mack Brown, Jim Tressel, and Frank Beamer ahead of him who are all still leading successful programs not to mention Bobby and Joe Pa are still coaching. Beamer is 3rd closest to Bobby but is behind by about 182 games and at the time Bobby beat Bear's record they polled the closest coaches to Bobby and they all said no coach would ever coach that long again in today's day and age. Saban is 21 years younger than Bobby and if he went undefeated for the next 21 years he'd be at 388 wins, only 18 wins ahead of Bobby and that's not even considering how much longer Bobby will coach (which I am actually at FSU now and the rumor is 4 more years cause he wants to coach Christian Ponder all the way through).

As for the money situation, I don't know. He felt like he had done as much as he could with LSU and wanted to try something on the next level. Then he found that wasn't what he wanted and LSU wouldn't let him back in, so he went with Alabama and the money just so happened to be good too. I think he would be more about the money if in the next couple of years he jumps to another team. LSU would have uped his pay had he never left as well, so I don't think money is the issue. Now if he leaves Alabama any time soon, then there might be something there, but I don't expect to see that.

Saban is a hard guy to read...he's been around but I'm not sure what success he has had other than LSU (and that was a very big one) so we'll just have to see if he's the real deal and can get Bama out of mediocrity.

Saban is a mercenary....he comes into a college program, gets it moving in a positive direction and then skips away to a bigger payday....I don't fault him professionally, but on a personal level he is making an awful lot of promises to recruits that he knows he will never. ever keep.

No he is the highs paid coach in College football.
And he will get them up there in about two years they will be a power house. The SEC will have all the power houses.
