It's properly said IM-o-jen (short "e") ... not IM-o-jeen, as I see a few others have mistakenly suggested. That would be spelled Imogene, actually a more modern form of Imogen.
Imogen itself is a very old name stemming from a mistaken transcription of Innogen, a Gaelic name derived from "inghean," meaning "maiden." In addition, it sometimes carries the elaborated meaning "in the image of her mother," thanks to its literal link to inghean/"maiden" and visual similarity to the word "image."
