You can always go to the doctor for the pregnancy, and once your Medicaid is processed, it will back-pay for usually up to 3 months (call your county Medicaid office to find out exactly how far they go back) for any office visits or any medical expenses you had during that time. You don't have to pay the office out of pocket - they will send you a bill if you tell them you've applied for Medicaid. Make your appointment ASAP! Don't wait!

Go ahead and make your appointment since doctors usually like to see you at around 10 weeks for the first time. Tell them you are waiting for Medicaid approval.

You can always call the Medicaid office, or Social and Rehabilitative Services for your county, and they can give you a status on the application. Also, Medicaid will usually reimburse you for 3 months prior, even if your application takes a while to approve.

We had Medicaid for a disabled child, and we just kept the bills and did not pay them, so we didn't have to come up with anything out of pocket. The doctor was notified Medicaid was pending, and when approved, they paid everything.

Check with the medicaid office because most states medicaid is pro active meaning it goes back a month before you even applied meaning that if you chose a medicaid doctor now they will reimburse you for the cost.

Just like Raven said, medicaid will reimburse you if you see a doctor before your case is processed, but I am not sure why it is taking so long. I got my medicaid turned on the same day I went down there. They gave me my policy number and I took it to the doctor with me. Just call and ask if they have a policy number for you even before they send your card so you can go ahead and see the doctor.

My Medicaid took forever! I guess it all depends on where you live. I called my doc and was seen the very same day. I went to 3 appointments before my Medicaid was actually processed. So, call the doc, let them know your situation, and make an appointment.
