I have always had a soft spot for Newcastle, since the two 4-3 games against my club Liverpool. Tremendous heart shown by players and fans on those occasions. There is also the Premiership that the Geordies blew, should've walked away with the title that year, and Keegans rant is football history. In todays game though, Newcastle are a shadow of what they were. Thanks to a succession of ridiculous singings and massive wages paid out to the likes of Joey Barton and Alan Smith, players who do not really care about the club, Newcastle are not feared by anybody. I was at the game last season when Newcastle came to Anfield, and it was an absolute joke. The players were not interested and it appeared that they knew they were beat the moment the whistle went. Dont even mention the game at St. James when, had Torres not had a bad game, we would have scored about 7 or 8 goals against you at home. I think Newcastle need a massive overhaul, from the top to the bottom. Get rid of the massive bulk of money-grabbers who do not care about the club or the fans, a good quality manager who can work on a limited budget and has a track record of positive man-management. It will be a long, long time before Newcastle will be anywhere near the force they were previously.

Just about the most naive question of the day. I'm a Spurs fan myself and Newcastle are a big club. A proud club with proud supporters. They came close in the Championship a few seasons ago, they've won a European trophy in the past, a few cups and a couple of championships.....a bit like Spurs really. Their day will come.

they may have a big stadium and a big fan base but that doesnt make a big club, winning cups, leagues and european trophies not just once but again and again and again and again makes you a big club. im from ipswich and ipswich town won the FA Cup once in 1978 and then the Uefa cup in 1981 and also finished runners up in the league a couple of times under bobby robson but still you wouldnt call Ipswich Town a big club

I think they know they really are a strugling club. BUt the fatc they are the only major side in Newcastle gives them more incentive to become better. They need to work from the Academy up to improve though.

They win the title for being the biggest bottlers in the history of the PL, a 12 point lead over Man Utd in 1996 and they still threw it away.
Stupid barcodes.
