As a yardstick, the best value currently in the USA is at http://www.maaco.com centers. You select the durability of the paint type and that determines the cost from $500 to $1200 (250 to 600 quid). However, that does not include painting any interior hood, trunk, door sills or other interior paint or body work. So the interior remains blue while the exterior is the new black color.

i'm not sure how much it would be up in Scotland, but down in sussex England we would charge about 1,500 to 2,000 for a normal respray. To do a colour change would involve alot more work as doors, tailgate, bonnet and bumpers need to come off so the shuts can be painted as well. Also the inside of the panels would need to be painted otherwise you would see the old colour when you open doors etc.You could be looking at 3 to 4thousand for a quality job which it will need to be if you want it black.
I normaly point out to people who want colour changes that it would be cheaper to buy a car that is the colour of their choice.
Ps don't forget to inform dvla if you change colour

£1000 and higher
but the price will start around a grand roughly
you may get a better deal at a small private resprayers
rather than at a make of vehicle type dealership

edit:i didnt see the blue to black=forget it it will cost you a fortune at least double the price it would have been ,i thought you meant the same colour

Imagine £300 then add a further £2000+ - if you want it done properly

A quick Bodgit & Leggit job from a dodgy geezer you meet at a pub - £300
