1. Their fans are the most arrogant in all of sports, they think they know more than fans of other teams & will always throw the "We have 27 titles." in your face. They also don't know how good they have it. A-Rod is going to go down as one of the best 5 players of all time & they can't stand him, 95% of fans from other teams would love to have A-Rod. I want to know how many of these fans will say they were Yankee fans in 1990 when Roberto Kelly was one of their best players.
2. George Steinbrenner, he's the reason player salaries have gotten so out of hand, every free agent that is decent always has the Yankees as part of their list of prospective teams. Just once I would like to see a player in the Free Agent market say "I Hate the Yankees, & would never sign there!!"
3. Media bias. First off I don't need to see the Yankees play on national TV 60 times a year, I have a favorite team, but as a baseball fan, I want to see all the teams, I want to see all the players. Second of all, everytime a rookie comes up with the Yankees, you would think that Jesus Christ is joining the team. Sure there is potential there, but what team is bringing up players that don't have potential, we wouldn't know about Joba Chamberlain & Phil Hughes if they played with the Reds or the Rangers.
3. "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch. For crying out loud, it's been 6 years. Go ahead & play it, but I don't need to see it on TV anymore.
4. Their NY logo & how it's become a thing for little gangsters to wear.
5. Derek Jeter, the most overrated player in all of baseball.
6. Roger Clemens
7. Jason Giambi
8. Joe DiMaggio had known mob ties but yet we were made to think he like a God.
9. How they treated Roger Maris
10. The fact they brought back guys like Steve Howe & Daryl Strawberry & made it look like the Yankees were a forgiving franchise & gave guys 2nd chances.

I have not, nor will I ever be a fan of the Yankees. Here's why.
1. Yankee Fans - There are two types of Yankee fans... those who grew up in New York and idolized the great Yankee teams of the past, and those who only like the Yankees because they know nothing about baseball except that the Yankees always win. The first group of Yankee fans, I have no problems with... it's these no-knowledge-of-the-game idiots who watch a little ESPN and think that they know everything about the game, except that they cant name more than 3 players on any other team in the nation besides the Yankees and Red Sox. These "casual" fans are usually the most annoying and arrogant because they chose to root for a team that always wins. I mean, come on... try rooting hard core for the Royals for a year, and see what being a real fan is all about.
2. Payroll - While the Red Sox have joined them as of late, the insanely high payroll of the Yankees is ruining the game of baseball. With contracts soaring through the roof, it's become a real life "tale of two cities". When a great player becomes a free agent and demands a huge contract, there's only two teams that can afford to sign them. It's just completely unfair that each team doesn't have the same opportunites to sign a great free agent. When A-Rod opts out of his contract, do you really think the Royals will even bother putting in an offer? Hell no, why should they? He's going to ask for 30 Mil per year and that's over half of what the Royals paid for their entire 25 man roster. Contracts are getting so out of hand that small market teams will never be able to land a huge free agent, and any superstars that they develop will all eventually end up on the Yankees once the teams that develop them and bring them up can no longer afford to keep them.
3. ESPN - I'm so sick and tired of ESPN's east coast bias. The Yankees are constantly crammed down people's throats because ESPN thinks that the Yankees are the only newsworthy team in baseball. I hate ESPN with a passion because of this. In the summer, it's all about the Yankees, in the winter it's all about the Jets, Giants, and Knicks. I think that ESPN should re-locate it's headquarters to somewhere in the Midwest... so that they can start presenting an unbiased sports report to the entire country... not just to fans of New York teams. I swear, if there was any alternative to ESPN, I would never watch it again.

it's a mix of quite a few things i think. for one as a red sox fan it kind of comes with the territory. that's part of why i love baseball so much though, none of the other sports teams i like really have a rivalry like the red sox and yankees do.
when i was growing up the yankees were winning pretty consistantly, i got sick of it. i feel the same way towards the dallas cowboys. i think it's bad for a sport overall when you have the same team competing in the championship game year after year. fans of the game stop paying attention because they know that year after year it's gonna be the same teams. take this season for example, MLB set an attendance record. i have no doubt in my mind that a big part of that is due to the fact that more teams are in contention this year. 7 of the 8 teams that made the playoffs this year weren't there last year. it makes the sport more exciting to watch.
the fact that steinbrenner is willing to throw boat-loads of money at mediocre players is frustrating as well. johnny damon is quite possibly one of the most overrated players i've ever seen (and yes i said the same thing even when he played for the sox, i've never liked the guy) carl pavano was never worth the money he got, or abreu, or giambi and a plethora of other players. now granted the red sox and other teams have thrown around money at players who don't deserve what they're making (not that anyone really deserves millions a year to play baseball in my opinion) but the yankees have been doing it for ages. other teams are becoming forced to do it simply because the market is effected so drastically by one team doing what steinbrenner does.
perhaps the biggest reason of all, and im guessing this would go for more than just red sox fans, is the way so many baseball analysts view the yankee team. the national media is quite obviously biased towards them, just look at how poorly they were playing at some points this year and there were guys like Tony Gwynn (cant stand that guy) saying they would still win the division. just watching the playoff games between them and the indians is frustrating. for every decent thing the yankees do, the analysts praise it as if it were the best play in baseball history. a routinne ground ball suddenly turns into " a phenominal play by (insert yankee player here) that's gold glove caliber right there" where as the same play by an indian would be treated as a regular ground ball out. at times it seems like the yankees could put 9 monkeys on the field and the national media would still put them on their pedestal.
yankee fans are a big part of it too. they act as if nobody on the planet is even playing in the same league as them when they are playing well. yet when the yankees are struggling alot of those fans turn their backs on the team. not all of them, but alot do. just think back to a few months ago and how many people on here that were yankee fans were saying it was over and they were waiting for next year.
i don't see how anyone can say they hate the yankees because of joe torre. if anything he's one of the few reasons i respect the team. while he has been given alot more to work with than most other managers will ever see, i still think he's one of the best managers in the league. i really would be interested to see what he could do with a small market team with some average talent.

Most Yankee Haters do so because of their dominance over the last couple of decades. With the highest payroll in MLB, they created a dynasty by buying the top free agents. As Cashman tries to get away from this approach, well... the results speaks for itself. (Though their farm system is starting to produce)
As a Red Sox fan, I can speak for most of us in saying that we LOVE to hate the Yankees, and will miss them when they get knocked out of playoffs this year. Nothing like a good Yanks/Sox ALCS.
Nothing against any other teams, but until they compete year in and year out, this rivalry will continue to be the best there is. (maybe the Colts/Pats, but that's a different sport).
I'm sure many people feel this way about the Sox with the 2nd highest payroll in MLB :)

I know you wanted people who dislike the Yankees, but how about a fan who is so disgusted with the Yankees?? I have been very upset with them for a long time.
1. because instead of trying to put players in their farm system to work with, they're always spending money on players who don't perform in postseason.
2. Too many times during important games, they have a manager who sits on his thumbs and doesn't put in a different pitcher when his pitcher is clearly struggling.
3. I didn't want Alex Rodriguez in the first place! I saw him play in Texas, and wasn't that impressed with his attitude!
4. Instead of spending money on people who are getting older and not playing as well, they should be finding some pitchers!!!
5. Also, why would someone who played for the Red Sox want to play for the Yankees? I think Schilling has the right idea, once you've played for one it's almost like a conflict of interest to play for the other team..
I'll probably always be a Yankees fan(it's the first team I watched on TV with my dad - and he was special to me), but that doesn't mean I agree with everything they do.

I dont dislike the yankees they just arent my favortie team! I think that the rivalry should be all in good fun and smetimes gets out of hand!! Im a red sox fan and well so you know my reason cannot be payroll because ours isnt much better! It also isnt arod because even if he is a disgusting man hes still the best player in MLB wether you like it or not! I would say the reason not just sox fans hate the yankees is because f there 26 rings!!! Does any other team have this many?? Sox fans arent the only people who dislike the yankees!!!

A number of reasons.
1. Being from Boston, it's genetic.
2. They are arrogant.
3. They are poor losers.
4. They play dirty.
5. They take their whine without cheese.
6. They buy players just to keep them off other teams.
7. The constant "we have 26 rings, how many do you
have? (in this century????)
8. What's with the short hair and no facial hair thing? Is it a
cult?
9. They just think they are better than everyone.
10 For some reason announcers like to compare every
player in every game to the Yankees. Why are they the
"gold standard". This is so not fair to the great players
on other teams who are just as good and often better.
To name a few.

Well 1st of all "hate". The sports pages in home town Newspapers of any team that plays the New York Yankees, dedicate themselfs to create rivalry so the sportswriters invent columns to excite the hometown fans. In Boston its a tradition for years for true fans to "hate" the Yankees. TV sportscasters, the sports section writers, then the fans themselfs get into a mood when the Yanks are in town. So no these same guys playing for the Yankees. Jeeter, A-Rod Possada, Torre the manager, Geeze any other team but the poor Yankees and they would be viewed as just exceptionally talented all star baseball players and their top of the list manger. But since they play for the fearsome New York Yankees. WE HATE THEM TO PEICES!!!!

I don't like them because of the fact they just want to buy players, rely less on development, and keep stars from signing with other teams. It drives the market way up, when guys need a new contract they can say "look at so-and-so from the Yankees, my numbers are similar to them, so my pay should be too". Then fans wonder why tickets always get more expensive.

I am the #1 yankee hater of all time in American history.
I have been since I was 6 years old, and I will be until the day I die.
I hate them NOT because of the payroll (that is a lame excuse) but because they (players & fans) are a bunch of rude, obnoxious, self-absorbed, thoughtless, inconsiderate little brats!
They have no idea what is like to have to actually WORK for what you get. They automatically expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter.
That is why it is so much fun to see them lose like they have been the last 7 years. I will continue to dog the yankees in hopes that never win a World Series this century or next.
