80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Frankly speaking life Doesn't have any point.
The very beauty of life is pointlessness.
Whats the point of fire burning its very essence is to burn.
In the same manner whats the point of life is living.
We are that simple we make it complex by thinking there should be a reason for everything.
There is nothing like purpose or meaning to life.
Life is a blank paper what ever you write give some meaning to it.
But the paper remains the same although.

Just be yourself.
We are born and we will die just witness what happens in between.
Don't identify with anything or any person
Even with your body or mind because you can use your body and mind at your will that means your are that soul or spirit or witness or Atman or nothing or everything what ever you may call it.
But we know for sure that we are much more than this body and mind.
When we go to a museum in a new place we just watch it with out possessiveness or conclusions.
In the same way try to see what happens around and in us.
What the play the GOD will play through you.

That's it over.

God Bless you.

Living

2007-10-07 10:41:22 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 2

The point of all life, not just ours, is to contribute to the expansion and then eventual decline of the universe by acting as mechanisms that convert matter from one state to another. Enabling the universe to fulfil its purposive nature of going from one big bang state to another.

Fortunately the more effective a life form is at converting matter then the more growth and successful it will become.

The point of life is to achieve perfection, and perfection for me, it could mean imperfection for you. Each one of us should try to find a balance in our lives, do things that makes You happy, regardless what other people thinks.
Life is good, and we are one with the Universe, once You understand, good and bad coexist, and accept what comes and what goes have the same energy.
For example if You think there's no point in Your life, what you will find is that. No point. The same on the opposite side, if you give some credit to life and chose a different way, that OK, as far makes You happy.
And remember whatever way You choose to live Your life, You will attract that. It's the Universe law.

The purpose of life is to find the truth, the real wisdom, the reality. Purpose of life is also to understand the purpose of life. It is never too late. All your vicotories and loses do not matter when you set out to find the truth and when you find the truth, the wisdom and understand the reality.

It may include love, care, goodness, developing goodness as a part of truth that you will uncover or during the journey to realize the truth, the purpose of life.

To discover the "point" of your own existence. Without that, you can't answer your own question because you would have no idea where to begin.

We are the servants of our genetic code. The point of life is for DNA to replicate itself. Our genes want us to survive and prosper.

Those who do survive and prosper usually enjoy their lives. And there is no harm in that.
