Human beings need purpose. In the beginning our purpose as to gather and hunt for food, make fire and have children. Today it's much more unclear but I think that a life without purpose is a life that's not worth living and that happiness comes from feeling that you have an important and significant purpose.

if i'd be asked, i would say that what is more important is purpose. Cause when you say happiness, it may be the state that you feel very happy and would no longer wish for anything else but it doesn't directly mean that you do things in accordance to what is right. Well, I would rather be happy than have purpose. However, I think for many people that having purpose makes them happy. For example, many parents feel that their purpose on earth is to raise their children...and this purpose lends meaning to their life.

The aim of life is not goodness for its own sake but happiness. For we choose happiness for itself and never with a view to anything further. Whereas we choose our purpose, honor, pleasure, intellect...because we beleive through them we shall be made happy. To call happiness is the supreme good and is mere truism. The chief condition of happiness then barring certain physical prerequisites is the life of reason - the specific glory of men and for the fulfillment of happiness.

Purpose... this is why many are asking "what is the meaning of life?" they have no reason, or purpose in their lives...no sense of direction, and they are unhappy with themselves.. purpose? If existence is a meaningless twist of fate, without acceptable purpose or purpose, why not in basic terms kill your self now? Why worry?" And this may well be conscious on your question - why not in basic terms rack up each and every of the wealth you probable can and the hell with whoever gets on your way? look after your self and your loved ones. what's to end you? Atheists and agnostics understand that we in basic terms get one threat at existence. it incredibly is it. it incredibly is all you get. No reincarnation, no heaven or hell, no 2nd possibilities. you in basic terms get one bypass, and to debris it up or waste this is the main undesirable component. i don't get my morals from the bible. There are some solid teachings in there, and there are solid teachings in different non secular texts. yet i don't locate what I stay by skill of in a faith. i don't locate meaning in any faith. i can, however, provide existence meaning by way of my strikes. i can make the worldwide a greater effective place for myself, my acquaintances, my relatives and my descendants. As an agnostic, I evaluate all of humanity to be sacred.
