I bottle feed my 1 month old girl and have been using the Avent and Evenflo bottles. She seems to be very gassy so I was considering trying those drop-in liners. What are your experiences with them? Are they any good for preventing gas? Can I use them with my current bottles or will I have to get new ones? Thank you so much!

I've been using them for 8 months and I love them, but my son was never really gassy, so I can't help you with this one. You need new bottles if you want to use them and they are supposed to reduce gas as you can squeeze all the air out, buy one bottle, they usually have couple of lines included, and try for yourself. What works for one baby might not work for other...

Here comes the thumbs down...but oh well. I heat my sons bottles up in the microwave. He takes 6oz at a time so 22seconds is what i put them in for. Just the water in the bottle. I use the drop ins too. While it is true that there could be hot spots, if you shake it up good, you wont have to worry about that! Like i said, i put the liner in the bottle, put 6oz water in there, then heat it for 22 seconds. Then i add the 3 scoops of formula and shake it til it feels like my arm is going to fall off! As far as the liners not collapsing, do you have the proper nipple on them? You are only supossed to use the ones made for the drop in bottle. If you notice regular nipples have vent holes on the bottom of them. Playtex drop ins dont. If you are using a nipple from a one piece bottle, then the air is coming back in from the vent holes. If thats not the case, then the liner or nipple ring could be inserted wrong. Also, remove any air BEFORE you give her the bottle. Good luck to you!

I LOVE THEM!! I used Avent bottles for about 8 months and I was sterilizing them everyday and finally I got tired of it so I switched to the playtex. You will need new bottles along with the liners. But they are so worth it, you can push all the air out so there is less air in baby's tummy. And all you have to do is sterilize the nipples and handwash the rest. I found it to be alot easier. I'm pregnant again and I already decided I'm starting this baby on the playtex bottles.

I actually use the Dr Brown's at home. They have reduced the amount that my baby spits up. When we go out or when traveling I decided to use the Playtex Drop Ins.......They are more expensive but handy when you aren't home. Don't have a dirty bottle in your bag. They have also reduced the spitting up.........Baby doesn't get as much air in the tummy so they are great for gas troubles. You do have to get the bottles. Recently I have found that you can buy 2 boxes of liners and a bottle is included. I have found this at Babies R Us......$7.99.

I used the playtex drop-ins and they were a major pain! My son didn't like the Advent or Evenflo, so I had to use them. You have to buy the bottles then the liners are a separate cost and I found myself constantly running out! I've heard a lot of good things about Dr. Brown's and gassy babies...maybe try those before the playtex ones. My son was a gassy baby no matter which bottels he used...he just ate too fast!

My sister uses the Playtex drop-in bottles and liners with her six-week old and I plan to use them when my baby is born, too. They are very convenient, clean up is easy, and it's simple to push the extra air out. Good luck!

you need new bottles, but I had the same issue with avent, tried the playtex, and the issue definitely improved.
Just buy one bottle, it should come with five sample liners, and try it with those. (That's what I did.) That way you aren't buying the whole thing before you know if it helps your baby.

i used the drop ins with my 2 kids and they are great..the only drawback with the liners is you cant use too much pressure to get the air out or they will explode..you have to get the liners that you put in and pull over the top of the bottle..they sell em at walmart for $3..i highly reccomend the playtex ventaires also..they dont drip as much as the drop ins..my daughter is 4 mos and they are easy to hold too.hope it helps...good luck..

YOu have to get the playtex bottles that theyre made for.

I breast feed, but for drinks and before my son mastered sippies we used, and still do use, the strop ins.

You can push all the air out of them, so they suck less of it in. I like them a lot.
