By the way, I NEVER swear. The most I say is 'botheration' when I'm really, really vexed, usually it's 'drat' or 'bother' but I rarely get that irritated.

If you look in the dictionary, you will find that most swear words are "curses and jynx's". When someone is mean or you do something wrong, these curses are ways to get the anger out, or make you feel better by cursing people

Also some people find it relieving, and its better to relieve your anger and stress in a non physical way, which involves trouble... swearing is like an easier way to relieve anger without getting into trouble.

:) Hope that Helped :)

I don't swear either - I will say "Oh my goodness", or sigh extra deep or "oh no", but never swear. I guess it is the way i was brought up - my parents never did, nor any of my relatives - so i think that makes a difference. My Dad always told me it was a useless use of unnecessary words.

Some people swear really badly - they probably just heard it from their family as they were growing up.

I swear because I get really frustrated. I have a lot of stress sometimes and that is the way I let off steam sometimes. I didn't say it's right and I'm not proud of it but I do do it sometimes. I am trying not to do it so much but it is a habit.

I believe that it is a bad habit that could be controlled if we wanted. It as nothing to do with culture ,even if we hang around people that swear sooner or later we can pick up the bad habit.
Some people might even feel superior to swear!

I think it depends on the company you keep, my parents never swore and neither did I until I started working and when you hear it all the time it becomes the norm and sadly it becomes part of your own vocabulary though I dont swear much now as 3 young kids...

Out of habit really, and our society is surrounded by these words that we just pick them up. But i dont think its wrong to swear (in the right company though).

Its just a way of emphasising severe affection or hatred of someone or something.

Some people do because they have limited intelligence and vocabulary, others as an automatic reaction to something but most, I think, because it has become an unfortunate part of our culture - aided a great deal by TV.

Stress, frustration and a verbal way of venting our anger without resorting to violence.
I don't swear that much - if I do, it's at home by myself. Outside I never do in front of children or in front of older people.

I don't swear either, but some people do it because it makes them feel cool. Why do we do drugs or drink alcohol? I think for the same reasons. People need to know that they will be cooler to resist.
