Happy people love themselves. It starts from within.

My theology professor once said that “loving means accepting.” To love yourself means accepting that you are not a perfect being. Behind the imperfections lie a great ounce of courage and the willingness to discover ways on how to improve your repertoire to be able recover from your mistakes.

Genuine happiness also pertains to being content with what you have. This includes the job you have, the way you look, relationships you have, the place you live in, your car, and all the things you now have. Truly, when you achieve contentment, you know the answer to the question how to be genuinely happy.

The discovery starts from within which eventually leads to something better. However, if you keep on saying that life has been treating you unfairly despite what you already have, you will never be able to find genuine happiness.

Genuine happiness isn’t about driving the hottest Formula 1 car, getting the employee of the year award, earning the highest 13th month pay, or beating the sales quota. Sometimes, the most sought after prizes in life do not always go to the fastest, strongest, bravest, or the best.

Everybody has his or her definition of happiness. Happiness for a writer may mean launching best selling books. Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award. Happiness for a beggar may mean a lot of money. Happiness for a businessman may mean success.

TRUE Happiness comes from WITHIN .. within your heart, your mind, your soul ...

BECAUSE NO ONE Can "Make" you happy (like no one can "make" you sad or angry either). YOU are the person in charge of your emotions ... and that is for sure. YOU Think, you FEEL, you know ... and it is a CHOICE.

So the first step in HAPPINESS is to learn about yourself -- your talents, your desires, your dreams/goals .. and what are you going to DO to ACHIEVE those desires, dreams/goals ... apply your talents, expand your horizons, get your education, find that job/career you want .. and ...

WORK HARD to ACHIEVE those dreams!

Then, no matter what obstacles someone else puts in your way, no matter what they do to ATTEMPT to make your life a living hell (and believe me, I KNOW from experience what this is like -- I have a violent, abusive, sociopathic ex from a short disaster of a relationship) ...

YOU can end up rebuilding your life, be HAPPY in the PROCESS, and yes, end up in your Empty-Nesting Single Retirement years with YOUR own HOME, your own PENSIONS, and yes, FINALLY ... a NEW Love in your life (A gentle, kind, caring and loving REAL Man ... who you truly enjoy being with, and who is confident in themselves as well).
