absolutely. now my 9 year old daughter does as well. When I was younger i didn't understand but now being a mom i do. It is a big help after working all day and then coming home to cook 5 days a week. Wanting to do things with her--like go to the park or go outside. If i had to do everything myself, i would not have time. THis also allows her to earn an allowance so she can have spending money, teaches her value of money and responsibility.

When was a child I did most all the house work. Me and my sister shared the housework and cooking. Our mom worked a swing shift and dad didn't live with us. Kids today act like their so mistreated if they have to help with anything.

Having your children do a few household chores or housework can be a very positive experience for them. It can give them a feeling of accomplishment which builds their self-esteem. It also will make them feel that they are an important part of the family.

All of us had chores. We each were expected to do them on a daily basis and we did them, though sometimes grumpily. I think that this is fair and good to do. If you are a part of a household, you are also responsible for keeping it up. We all got an allowance for doing our chores.

yes, i had chores from a young age... i kind of resented it at times, especially when i didn't get pocket money unless i did it. now that i am an adult, and a parent, i really appreciate that i was taught to contribute and the value of money.
