This is my 11 year old sons chemistry homework. Its got to be presented as a newspaper article - HELP!!!!!!

They would probably use calcium carbonate CaCO3 (chalk) to neutralise the acid, as it's a solid and relatively cheap.

Calcium Carbonate + Hydrochloric acid --> Carbon Dioxide + Water + Calcium Chloride

THey would probably not use an indicator, but just keep on chucking on the chalk until the reaction stops (it will stop bubbling)

try putting NaOh or baking soda with the HCL ACID

HCL + NaOh ---> NaCl + H2O
