My husband is most likely going to be working there for a few months next year, and we (daughter and I) will be going with him. I'm not exactly sure what part yet, but I was wondering if they are that much different over there. Of course they are in some ways, but I knwo nothing about Greek people. Is there anything about my culture that I want to avoid over there? Anyone know of some good sites for info when you know NOTHING about a place and you just want to learn the basics?

Greeks are friendly people, and Greece is an advanced cultured place, with a lifestyle similar to all European countries (with the exception of some very secluded small rural agricultural areas, but I doubt that is where you will go). You will have no problem. Most people also speak english, but it would be a good idea to learn a few words or at least learn the alphabet, which is very easy since the latin alphabet is a variation of the Greek alphabet anyway.
As for mannerisms etc., no problem, the only insulting gesture you need to avoid is when you extend your arm towards someone, with your fingers wide open, palm facing towards the person in question. This is insulting, it can come in handy while you are driving though, lol.

In addition to what the others said, bear in mind that pedestrians do not really have priority in Greece - I mean legally they do, but don't always expect drivers to stop at the zebra crossing. And in general, it is a rather safe country - apart from the necessary precautions, should you be stationed in a big city.
You can check the basics on wikipedia.

Greeks are very warm and open people. If you visit someone's home make sure you dont comment on something you like, most likely they will insist to give it to you:)
If you visit for dinner, bring a small present with you or something special you cooked
(If it is formal dinner stay away from it though)
Try to be polite and dont worry too much about your manners there, most likely you will do fine, since people there are not as sensitive or easy to judge youe manners as they are in some other parts of the world.
It's acceptable (and easier)to strike conversations there.
Take it easy and enjoy your stay there.Greece is a warm and welcoming country thus the many foreigners living there

The first thing that springs to mind is, never show the palm of your hand to a Greeks face, it's the same as the finger in the US.
You could check out the sites below.

I have been noticed that Greeks and Americans are in some attitudes very much alike. They talk easily, like communication with other people, are not bad tempered.
It will be easy for you, as most of the people in Greece, speak english. In TV you will find many US series and films.
(Just one-only one thing: don't speak english very laudly when you are in public places).
