Every school district and school sets it's own holidays, though the Federal holidays during that period are Columbus Day (or Native American Oppression Day) 8 October, Veterans Day 11 November (Sometimes called Armistice Day)as this falls on Sunday it will be observed on the 12th, Thanksgiving Day 22 November. As Far as Thanksgiving Day goes most businesses and govenment offices are also closed 23 November and many schools are out for 17-25 November.
The dates of these holidays varies every year. While Veteran's Day is always 11 November it is observed on a Monday or Friday to allow for a 3 day weekend.
Traditionally Columbus Day was 13 October but now moves to the most convienent Monday for holidays.
Hope this info helps

Thanksgiving, the 4th Thursday in November. November 22nd this year.
There are likely others, however, each local School District, private school, state University/College system, and private college; sets its own calendar of school breaks and holidays. So, there is no single school calander for the entire nation.

November 12 - Veterans Day
November 22-23 - Thanksgiving
The exact days, and whether a school is actually closed depends on the administration.

None that I can remember in October, but there's Thanksgiving in November, which is the 4th Thursday of the month - this year that's the 22nd.
