Because he is being pressured by an international court, that the defendant (Mexican national) was denied access to his consulate. In this rare instance (pro-death) Bush is ready to take a look at the broader effects of this legal argument. Now if only he would do that with the Patriot Act, Military commissions act, and the authorizing of torture by the CIA.

Bush is obviously playing politics here and doing someone a favor that has been called in. But I doubt seriously that Bush will shed a tear if Medellin buys the farm.
