I am unhappy about the flagrant Islamic extremism that is infiltrating the UK

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/03/11/noxford11.xml

I have seen footage from inside major UK mosques preaching hatred toward non muslims, sexism, homophobia, disregard of english laws.

Why do so many Muslims who claim to be "Decent law abiding citizens" Empathise, sympathise or turn a blind eye to such activity and hatred.

Not trying to drum up support providing facts and asking opinions.

Did you even bother to look at the content in the links...

Isn't forming an opinion without looking at the information basically the definition of Prejudice.

I say it does not contravene any guidline is entirely factual and the disclaimer is just for people who are more sensitively disposed such as yourself.

Current studies show that around 20% of all british muslims are sympathetic to extremist groups.

Thats no small number.

No sorry, it doesn't work like this on YA. Disclaimers are not valid if you attempt to violate community guidelines by trying to use YA to drum up political support for any party or cause.
Only genuine questions please.

The problem is that people from all faiths are become afraid of each other and, some more some less, they all support extremist actions against the others. It is true there is freedom of speech and I particularly feel that many Muslims though not all of them do support terrorism and do accept the laws of the countries that host them. I say you want an Islamic country? then go back where you came from. I know this sounds terrible but Islamic laws are extremist and they are brutal, we cannot have that here in the West. What we are looking for is peace among us and unfortunately Islam does not guarantee that. All it does is encourage violence against kuffars and them. I happen to know some Muslim people and they are as normal as any other person I've ever met but it is a fact that there is a growing number of funides that will not accept anything else but a Muslim state and I think we cannot allow that since that compromises our freedoms. What we have is not the best and we should improve it but introducing Islamic law would be going back to a reality where religion was mixed with the State and we know how that worked. Now think of an even more intolerant religion, the consequences would be disastrous. I'm not discriminating against Muslim, I'm only saying that they should abide by the law of their host country and should not preach hatred. All this does is reinforce the stereotype of them being aggressive and that is not the case for many Muslims.

Don't believe what Jerry C has written. Not all Muslims are terrorists. Islam is a very peaceful religion and according to religion, one should help each other. Unfortunately there are always the extremists, is it under the coat of religion or politics. You will always find a small group acting out of the ordinary. This terrorists are killing their own brother Muslims and any one who is in their way. Holding people hostages and than kill a few is revolting and I hope with all my heart that those people are brought to justice very soon. thank you for bringing up such a good topic. It shows that you are thinking and feeling with the happenings around us..

If the crux of your question is...

Why do so many Muslims who claim to be "Decent law abiding citizens" Empathise, sympathise or turn a blind eye to such activity and hatred?

I'd say for the very same reason Catholics sit in church and support the church and turn a blind eye to the vast problem of sexual exploitation perpetrated by its clergy.

"I believe, and I'm not involved with that activity so it really doesn't affect me. I still have 'my' religion."

g-day!

As an American, I cannot speak to the effect that extremism has in the UK. I can however say that extremism anywhere is destructive. People who have extreme values have no tolerance for the rest of us, either we are with them or we are the enemy and should be destroyed.
In general we tend to tolerate differences, sometimes we actually encourage them, at least in this country. Because we are tolerant, we tend to expect everyone else to be as well and we are puzzled when they aren't.
We need to recognize that intolerant people aren't like us, and they cannot tolerate us. They will destroy us if the opportunity presents itself. This phenomenon has been replayed over and over in your country and mine throughout history, usually about religious matters. The only difference in what is going on now and what went on during the time of Bloody Mary, John Knox and the Puritans is that these players, for the most part are not English, and they haven't got centuries of English law and standards of conduct inculcated in their bones. Therefore, they are a little scary.

Well there could be many reasons such as:
honor muslims
faithful to their nationality
scared of them
complacent
comprimised
just like their are good doctors that will do all to save live there are some doctors that only do what they have to do.
Or just like their are Christians that love God but don't obey his teachings.

It's a question of people wanting it both ways and using religion to obtain it.

I find the Muslim (headscarf) a little off putting but accept it in the same way as I accept woman's hat on the grounds that I think is horrible. What I do find extremely insulting provocative unnecessary is the slavery of the full Burka.

i admire yorkshire terriers and chihuahua's, yet my dogs is a mix from the pound and that i've got no longer any theory what he's (purely that he's a mix of small breeds), I purely fell in love with the little guy. i discover it considered necessary that I today experience a connection with a dogs, be it a organic-bred yorky or some rangy mutt.

I can`t understand why, if they hate the West and our way of life, why the feck do they come here.
There`s plenty of sand to pitch their tents in their own country.

Because that's what they believe. Yes they might talk about how they love peace and they just want to exist peacefully. However the second the camera is off and they think nobody is looking, its back to their religious intolerance.
