I would imagine there's a grain of truth in all of them... but they're all highly exaggerated.
The woman who's a teacher's sob story is basically that she's a teacher. That's it.
Have you noticed that they're upping it a level now too? Not only did that woman find the application in her father's effects..... She used to be fat as well! It never stops!

I do love the X-Factor but agree over load on the sobs and to be honest I am softest in the box but this year noone has grabbed me.
Man with cloth cap looks interesting if they let us hear him properly and he has no sob story.
Like Kimberly too as she seems more down to earth does have a sob story but has not had it put up so she must have said no good on her.
Sorry forgot to answer question we all have a sob story if we wanted too and they must have been asked permision so my guest they are trying to win public vote just in case they get through.

It`s hard to say wether they are true or not, however it`s plumb pity full for these contestants to bring them out of the bag just for pity`s sake and the obvious sympathy votes! it really annoys me, how many people go for a job interview and then spout all there sob stories just to bag the job?
on merit!!!! is what is missing!

Everyone has lost someone important to them. X-Factor just puts the emphasis on it and suddenly that person is the inspiration behind them singing.
It makes me laugh now, not because the stories aren't sad, but like you say they've all got one !!
Must be part of the audition process ........ see if you can make us shed a tear with your 'take a break' style story !!!

I reckon probably most, you wouldn't lie about family dying would you? But they just exaggerate and cry and bring little kiddies with them for sympathy. It is SO annoying - especially when they're not even good and they get through

like everyone else ..I would say that they are probably true (at least the basics anyway) but exagerrated.

The point is ..so what if they are ? i'm only interested in who can sing the best... they are pointless... and there has been n overload this series..

dR bad
sooooooo contrived its unreal

I don't doubt that they are not true but you are right there has been far to many this series. Without sounding heartless and nasty I don't care or wish to know about their troubles - it's a singing programme and all I want to know about them - Is can they sing.

I believe they are true and that people do share these genuine emotions, but they tell the judges this to give them an 'easier' time and if they don't perform so well then they might be left off a bit easier.
