I´m amused by the question, and the answers, but I must admit I don´t exactly know what a Hummer is (except for what the others have just said about it).
I was just reminded about the attitude that Germans have about their cars - it has to be expensive and clean and look good. It is even said that Germans keep their kids inside so that their cars can play on the street. Indeed, just a day ago someone shouted down at my son because he came too near this man´s car with his bike. Our neighbour downstairs hooked up a security camera to watch over his own new car. And he even reported our car to the police because it was a rather old 2nd hand one, and it bothered him to have it seen beside his in the parking lot. Extreme situations? Well, that´s life in Germany for ya.
Anyway, parking spaces in N.America are double the size of those here.... but then again, your parking lots are bigger and better too! Let her take her space. Eventually someone`ll get bugged and scratch it, or after a while she´ll get her first "ping" anyway. It sounds to me, for fear of a scratch, she can´t fully enjoy this new car anyway.

For people like that, it isn't about BEING tough, it's about LOOKING tough and looking like you have a lot of money. These people are poseurs, and your implied contempt in this post is warranted.
For people who actually DO use their Hummer offroad (and if it's an H1 or H3 you can actually say that without giggling), they probably like their truck, are proud of it, and dammit, it's THEIR truck, and they don't want SOMEONE ELSE to scratch it. Some retard putting a door ding in your car in a parking lot or some jerk keying your car isn't the same as a low-hanging branch on a trail putting a scratch in your paint the length of the car. The former feels bad. It makes you angry. The latter, you can shrug it off because you had a good time doing it.

I want a hummer! And its not too show how much money I have or anything like that. I want one because of its safety features!! HAve you ever seen a "totaled" Hummer? if you have, its not too many times.
I want one for the safety of my kids.
And no I wouldn't want my car to get scratched no matter what kind it was, it just doesn't look as nice.
BUT I HATE when people double park!! WHen i get my Hummer, I'm going to park far away from other cars or park in a corner parking.
Good Question :)

They spent alot of money on the thing & do not want it messed with. Just like if you had a new vehicle that got a scratch or door ding. But taking up 2 spaces is just stupid & LAZY. Too damn lazy to park away from other cars & walk the distance

I have seen many people do that mostly all luxury cars. I know from experience it enhances your chances of vandilism especially in a full lot. My friend was so proud of his bmw m3 that he parked it across two spaces at the movie theater. He came out to find that he car was not only keyed but they put self insulating foam in the gas tank.

Because they paid 50,000 dollars for an over-rated pile of plastic that has the off-road capabilities of a Honda Civic Del Sol. Me, I don't give two sh!ts either way if someone scratches my truck, because there's no clearcoat left TO protect, and hey, it's a 500 truck, a little scratch is nothing to the massive dents in the bed.

because people are stupid and they think these cars are safe so they won't get killed in an accident....... just trying to make up for the fact that they don't know how to drive, and always talk on the cell phone while in the car........ The H2 is just a status symbol, look at me, I'm so rich.... that sort of thing........
