While I do not agree with all your dire predictions about unemployment in the future, you do have one thing right and I am glad someone has been smart enough to see it.
For a long time now I have been suspecting that there is a hidden neocon agenda to absorb Mexico into the U.S.,which is why they have been so surprisingly ¨soft¨on illegal immigration.
Every one is always so worried about the scenario being that a greater hispanic population would cause the border states to secede to Mexico. Why would they want to do that when polls taken in Mexico show that a majority of Mexicans hate their own corrupt governments even more than they ¨love their country¨.
Neocons are messianic expansionists by any means, fair or foul, militaristically or by peaceful means. When the southwestern borders with Mexico have become so hazy because of huge hispanic populations,Mexico will fall like a piece of rotten fruit. This is why neocons are so eager to absorb and assimilate Mexican immigrants, legally or otherwise. Or,perhaps, they actually prefer them to be illegals?
Imagine millions of illegal immigrants living and working and raising families in the U.S. but still technically Mexicans and eligible to vote in Mexican elections. They will be sending billions of dollars ¨home¨ to buy or influence or support those politicians in Mexico willing to legislate measures that will eventually facilitate a ¨sell out¨ their country to the U.S. All these illegal immigrants here today just might make it possible to one day annex Mexico without a shot being fired. A real neocon dream of expansionism come true!!
Projects like NAFTA will help speed up the process, certainly. There will be more.
I am not too sure about Canada but I wouldn't put it past our neocon ideologists to have their eye on that country too. Canada is geographically better situated than we are to make a grab for the sub- polar fossil energy resources when global warming melts the ice cap and makes them available.

NAFTA, North American Trade Agreement, is in effect at this moment, and has nothing to do with highways going in or out of America, Mexico, or Canada.
The original intent of NAFTA was to do away with tariffs between America, Canada, and Mexico. What effect NAFTA has had, or will have on immigration into and out of these countries will be determined by Congress and the President of the United States. If you are concerned about NAFTA, you need to write to your local, state, and Federal representatives, including the President and Vice President of the United States.
An election year is forthcoming. Let those who have declared their candidacy know what you think about NAFTA. Let all your legislators, state and Federal, know how you stand on trade agreements, and how such agreements will affect your job.
NAFTA was not presented on a ballot on which the American people could vote. The President of the United States and Congress decided America would support NAFTA.
NAFTA is a reality; supported by your President and the Representatives and Senators you voted for. You and I will have a very difficult task to "get rid" of NAFTA.

If anyone doubts this I suggest they try reading HCR 40 introduced by Rep Goode of Virginia. If the US Congress thinks this is going on, perhaps we should listen?
