The Republicans have betrayed the conservatives with their insane spending and failure to raise any significant effort to stop illegal immigration.
The Democrats gained power because they gave the illusion that they would get the troops out of Iraq and all they've managed to do is send more down. All they have to do is write one final check which is enough to bring the troops home and if the president keeps them there he;s to blame and the Dems come out smelling like daises.
Both sides have perpetuated the sutble differences to keep us as a people divided so no one wakes up and see how horribly they are running our country.
As an independent for the last three years I ask... are you too blind to see this and just want to point fingers at the other guy, or was T. Jefferson right when he said "All experience have shown, mankind more willing to suffer while evils are sufferable then to right themselves from the means of which they are accustomed."

Quote from the Declaration of Independence. Sad day when its words can be applied to the very people they were written for.

migz...
Your right the economy is better then ever. There are more billionares then ever before, and unemployment is down. but salaries are down as well meaning that unemployment is down because people are forced to take lower paying jobs. More americans also live below the poverty line. If you think we are the freeest nation on earth you obviously have never traveled outside of the country. Freedom is being able to safely walk you streets. Freedom is able to choose who'll you'll vote for. Freedom is being able to go to the doctor when you break your arm.
I am a historian and therefore conservative, and I am a veteran of OIF part 1: the toppling of Saddam. So do not call my patriotism into question. I stopped serving because kool-aid drinking ignorants like yourself are not worth dying for. My apologies to the rest of you, but migz is too cowardly to open up her email options to continue this in private.

The country, actually the world, is changing so much that the parties seem more concerned with the rest of the world than they do with the citizens. Globalization and the war on terror seem to conflict as well as the immigration issue. Do they lean towards protecting our rights or protecting our lives? I have no doubt that governing is not a simple matter these days.
The solutions are not obvious. The parties will eventually adjust to our needs but it will take time and pressure from the voters. Maybe it is the time for a new party if the democrats and republicans refuse to adjust.

Face it, there is nothing independent about you. You are and always will be left leaning and a critic of all in government. You probably didn't even vote in the last election. I see you placing a lot of blame and not being very patriotic!
I support our President and our troops. Our economy is good, we ARE better off than we were seven years ago and so is the world.
Yes, the debt is up, but our Pres. and House have passed plans to balance that within a reasonable time-frame.
We are the last super-power and I for one am thankful that GWB was in that office when we were attacked on 9/11!
As for Iraq, he has explained his decision numerous times. We need to support our Commander In Chief and make our country strong.
We gain NOTHING by bashing Bush, the war or the parties.
This is the greatest country in the world! Many want to live here and cannot! We are a Blessed Nation and should we forget it for one minute, shame on us!

OK. I can buy into the idea that the actions and leadership of both parties are not desirable. Then again, this country is deeply rooted in a bipartisan political philosophy. So what do you do? Independents are obsolete. Nader seems to be the only legitimate third party proponent that, on its face, seems to have influenced policymaking at some level but really, his candidacy just temporarily triggered a shift in party influence within bipartisan dominance.

you spot, Tea social gathering contributors are for SMALL government. because of the fact of this they don't help company Republicans nor Democrats. regrettably, Sarah Palin is for unlawful extraterrestrial beings staying right here meaning she is for company globalists and banks who run our government, the two events, the media and maximum persons, as nicely because of the fact the unlawful alien difficulty with NAFTA, CAFTA and SSP. of course company globalism is huge government. the respond is to vote third social gathering or small government Repub. applicants inclusive of Ron Paul. If our unlawful's situtation isn't corrected rightly then not something will rely, because of the fact we are going third worldwide as in So. CA. (the nanny state), and different border states.

no. cause you cant fix anything if you jump ship.
The only way to fix things is to fix the party from the inside. stop running away from things and start making changes instead of letting someone else doing it.
