If you start out unranked or maybe even lower than 15 you pretty much have no chance of getting the Championship. Isn't the goal to win Championships? Teams shouldn't be ranked until 10 weeks into the season. Do you agree or disagree?

I agree. I'd love to see playoffs brought to NCAAF. Best team from each conference and then use your 10 week or so ranking system to say who plays who in the early rounds, set it up like the NCAAB tournament. The teams that are good but not the best in the conferences could then take on all these stupid extraneous bowls so companies could still put their names on the bowls and everyone's happy.

I believe that the ranking system needs to be adjusted, I wouldnt go so far as to hold off any ranking at all until the 10th week but change is definately needed. I wholly believe that the ranking should be based first on overall record then conference record and finally strength of schedule.

The season should start with a pre-ranking based on predicted finishes, that changes every week though and is part of what attracts fans to the game. I dont think that just because Notre Dame is Notre Dame that they should warrant any more attention than every other team in America. Last years or for that matter last centuries accomplishments need not be taken into account. With the possible exception for a successful team returning the majority of their players.

If the rankings were as I have proposed above they would be as follows:

1 - LSU (6-0,3-0)
2 - Ohio State (6-0,3-0)
3 - Boston College (6-0,3-0)
4 - Arizona State (6-0,3-0)
5 - Cincinnati (6-0,3-0)
6 - California (5-0,2-0)
7 - Hawaii (5-0,2-0)
8 - South Florida (5-0,1-0)
9 - Missouri (5-0,1-0)
10 - Kansas (5-0,1-0)
11 - Conecticut (5-0,1-0)
12 - Illinois (5-1,3-0)
13 - Virginia (5-1,3-0)
14 - Virginia Tech (5-1,2-0)
15 - Texas A&M (5-1,2-0)
16 - S. Carolina (5-1, 3-1)
17 - USC (5-1,2-1)
18 - Wisconsin (5-1, 2-1)
19 - Indiana (5-1, 2-1)
20 - West Virginia (5-1, 1-0)
21 - Kentucky (5-1, 1-1)
22 - Texas Tech (5-1, 1-1)
23 - Purdue (5-1, 1-1)
24 - Oklahoma (5-1, 1-1)
25 - Wyoming (4-1, 1-0)

I think the ranking system is just for hype. Just to say who the best team on paper is. But with all the upsets and the makeover of the preseason rankings this is probably why the BCS dont bring out there rankings until week 8. I really think that they should have a playoff system going like Div.1, 2, and 3. To many teams are getting screwed.

I totally agree.

Why let rank determine if your the winner or not? Look at AUburn in 2004, an Undefeated season against some of the toughest teams out there. But didn't get to go to the finals because of the stupid ranking system.

I say do the playoff system. Drop back to eight regular season games, and then spend the next four weeks in playoffs of quarter-finals, semi-finals, etc. You know what kind of buck$ the colleges would get if people got to actually see the best teams play instead of some "Sissy Boys" in a press box (BCS) deciding who's best.

Name any other sport that does this ignorant ranking system to determine their champ instead of just playing eliminations tournaments.

War Eagle!

I disagree completely. You have to start with some kind of measuring stick. Even, if it lacks somewhat in it accuracy. Otherwise, how would you differentiate from a big win or a cupcake, or strength of schedule. What is really needed is a playoff system that would allow the top 4 or 8 or 16 or however many teams is accepted to play and find out who really is the best team.

I think there should be a playoff anyways for the championship. That way who wins, wins it fair and square. So at that point the rankings don't really matter, kind of like college basketball because 16 can beat 1.

i dont think there should be a ranking system at all............or i should say that the rankings shouldn't determine a champion.....if a playoff is good enough for all the other divisions of football and all other college sports then by god they need a playoff for division 1 too. Im sooo damn sick of seeing to good teams not play each other then we get all the questions of who's better. The N C double ******* need to get their heads out of their rears and get with the times......

PLAYOFFS ARE WHERE THER FUTURE LIES!!!!!!!!

Just about every fan of college football, the problem is that the NCAA and the BCS are in bed together and making lots of money.
