Finish/Trim carpenters;

I am going to have to hang some crown by myself, customer can't wait until my help is available. Two lengths are over 18' long. Material is finger jointed fir, custom milled. Up to twelve-fourteen feet I have had no problems doing this alone, but these lengths are too long. I definately don't want to have a length snap in half. Any suggestions on how to hold and shoot the nails by myself?
Has anyone tried double sided tape or Liquid Nails?
Thanks

Yeah it is much easier with an extra set of hands. If possible, get anyone that can safely help. As long as they can get on a ladder and hold the other end for a minute or so. Most customers will help, if you ask nicely, because they want to be helpful, so they can get the best job possible. But if you find yourself without any help at all, you can put some 16d finish nails in two or three studs where the bottom edge of the crown will be and use that as temporary support while you nail the other end. When caulked the holes will get filled.

Hi Martin, DIY peer

Just one old contractors opinion. Have the angles been cut/ figured? Did you install triangles?

Depending on the height to the ceiling I often use 2x4's at that length to wedge/brace something like that. I use them in cases of hanging ceiling alone as well.

Ask the customer to help. It's not too much trouble to hold one end.
