I think the answer to that question depends on each person's individual idea of who we are and what makes up our identity. For example, if I believe that who I am is dependent on my ideas and beliefs, and the thoughts that are in my head right now.....if I forgot everything, would I still be me?

I'd like to think that yes, I am me now and will always be. But it's hard to know.

It depends on which me you want to answer this question. The professional Mental Health worker will say 'of course I am and I can only work as I do by having a clear identity'; The father will admit that there are times when the role of parent takes over and that is by nature contradictory as you want to give them all you can but you know that is not good for them and therefore you play 'the good parent'; the partner is altogether more childlike and daft, affectionate and warm, perhaps that is the real one; I could go on but my point is that because we are all extremely complicated, as are our lives, we can never be all of ourselves at one time. All of the above and more are me but not all at once.

In a way yes, I am always me, but sometimes I cannot see myself as objectively as I should and therefore some parts of my personality take me by surprise (even in a pleasant way). Then I ask myself: was it really me?

Physically, yes. And I don't plan on changing that - plastic/cosmetic surgery is a huge waste of money, and pointless really.

At times though, I surprise myself... as it feels another part of my soul invades, takes over. Usually for the better.

at times yes but sometimes no. i believe there is always a time that someone would be wearing a mask.that's why there's a so-called hidden-self. but still, i believe that its better that you'd always be you so as not to hurt other people..=)

No. Sometimes I'm Al ('I invented the Internet') Gore.
And I have to admit that it -is- kinda fun to be a two-faced, World-Class, 4-door αsshole.

Yes. Even when I try and empathise with another, I'm still me empathising not them. When I'm not feeling myself, I'm still me. Whichever way I behave I am accountable for.

By definition, yes. Who else would I be? Even when a person is not feeling normal, and says, "I'm not myself..." to express that, they are indeed themself. Because "who" one "is", at any given moment, is determined by one's response to one's environment and condition. And that is determined by who they are, in general.
