Yes, go ahead and start taking prenatals. You can start taking them now. There are more benefits than just for the fetus. It makes your hair and nails more healthy. The easiest way to get the folic acid that you need is through the prenatals and leafy green veggies.

So long as you are taking a vitamin such as women's once a day with the recommended 400 mcg of folic acid for women who are trying or could become pregnant you are fine. My OB-GYN told me when we (husband and I) first started trying that any daily vitamin with those 400 mcg was fine until we got pregnant, then switch to prenatals. Taking prenatals will not hurt, but if you are sensitive to iron like I am, a daily vitamin (repeat w/ daily 400 mcg of folic acid) will work just as well.

Take them before.

I am also trying to conceive and as it has been 10 months I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject.

I have read on numerous occasions that when possible a woman should try to take prenatal vitimins as soon as they start trying to conceive. Some even said even when your thinking about it.

At the end of the day they're vitamins, they wont harm you they can only make you and your future baby healthier.

I have been taking them for about a month now.

Best of luck and baby dust!

You should take a pregnancy tablet such as evelit or blackmores preconception and pregnancy tablet, its vital that you have a tablet to provide both your unborn baby and you with the right nutrients you need.

You may also want ot change your diet:
Throw away every fad diet book you've ever bought, put aside old myths, and learn to eat real food. That means a balanced diet of at least three meals a day, including at least five portions of fruit or vegetables a day. Three of the most important nutrients for a healthy pregnancy are calcium, iron and folic acid. A good multi-vitamin tablet will ensure that you get enough of them, but be sure to drink plenty of milk and eat citrus fruits and juices, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and fortified breads and cereals. For more information, see our articles on nutrition for a healthy mum-to-be and dad-to-be.

Women who are trying to conceive may also want to cut back on their caffeine consumption. Research linking a woman's caffeine consumption with a lower chances of conception has been contradictory, but, in general, low levels of caffeine consumption are recommended. By contrast, dads-to-be should feel free to drink an extra cup: caffeine may help men by stimulating sperm motility.

You should be a healthy weight too which increases your changes of conception.

nicely i'm no longer attempting to conceive top now, yet i understand that prenatal supplements are nicely-commonplace for making you ill on your abdomen...I took them during my being pregnant yet I continually took them at evening top b4 mattress, on an entire abdomen, and that i by no potential had any nausea from them. yet i understand a lot of girls people who've. The wellness care provider will the two prescribe you something else or aid you realize to take perhaps purely particular OTC supplements, like folic acid. My prenatal supplements have been OTC via the way; aim style version of Stuart's Prenatal. wish this enables in some way. stable luck! :-)

at least take folic acid 1-3 months before getting pregnant - and at least continue for the first 3 months of pregnancy. This helps to reduce the risk of spina bifida

you should start taking them now. If not prenatals then definetly a multi vitamin.... You're trying to take care of all your needs so that baby doesn't feel deprived. My doctor started me 9 months prior to TTC and said that it doesn't hurt to take them so why not?
