How or why are people deciding on who the NBA MVP for the 2008 will be or should be when not one single game has been played? Are people just picking their favorite player? Shouldn't fans wait and watch to see who helps their team succeed in the upcoming season?

I don't get it.

No its not wise because you never know who might get injured, whose team might have a bad year, or how well a player will do

Who cares about the MVP, since the MVP's team almost always flops in the playoffs like dirk and the mavs did and a-rod and the yanks. The MVP is for players who just do well in the regular season and choke under pressure.

Its what makes this interesting and causes talk and controversy. So its the same with who will win the championship and asking it not now but one day before Game 1 starts. Its not as if someone will sneak up on everybody and win it. It only comes down to a handful of players.

You've been around here long enough to know that people just pick their favorite player for anything and that's it. Why consider personal stats or team success?

I don't get it either but that's what plenty of people do. I prefer to keep an open mind and see what shakes out.

No, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just a guess anyway and my guess for 2008 NBA MVP is Stanko Barac of the Pacers.
