the u s is the super power of the world, at present. you might say that it is an empire that has risen. has it risen as far as it's going to? that reply is pending. so many empires, in history, have risen only to fall.
that would be so unfortunate for the free world. i cannot imagine how liberty would be protected if the u s were to fall.

I agree with Lincoln and Momo except for one thing, we are not losing economically we have already lost, we are just too proud to accept that fact. We are no longer the richest nation on earth, we just have the highest GDP, but once you subtract how much we owe, we are no richer than 3rd world nations. We no longer have the highest standard of living, we are somewhere between 8th and 14th in the world, depending on which source you look at.
But military we are the strongest, but we have a military that can annihilate any nation, but not win any war because we do not have enough soldiers, so unless we want to level a country, in practical terms we do not have the strongest military. I will give you a simple analogy, if you have a fly in your house we can kill the fly but only if we destroy the house with it, but we do not have a fly swatter just to kill the fly.

US has the most powerful military and the biggest economy. Our diplomatic influence has dropped recently but the other two things still gives us plenty of influence.
So ya, US is the most powerful country in the world. For now...

We are only as powerful as long as we got the man power, if China was to invade with at least a fourth of their ppl, 750 million or so, we would be screwed. We're up to our ears in debt, half of which is to the banks and our army is half-way across the world instead of here. The only reason we dont attack Iran is because if we do, China and Russia will come over here and give us a taste of our own medicine.

Military power yes. Financial power, not any more. With Brazil, Russia, India and China making so much growth, America is losing its financial importance in the World. The country and most of its people are in debt up to their eye-balls and owing money is not a sign of power. If China calls for all the money that the U.S. owes them, there is going to be a big problem and that's not a power position to be in. Ask any Economist. Patriotism may give this answer a bad grade, but that doesn't change the situation that the U.S. is now in. Unfortunately we are fighting a war using a credit card.

Sorry, I wish it were the case that US the was in control. Israel is the puppet master, while we are blinded to see where our country is headed in the next 5 to 10 years.

Yes, it is. But it lacks the confidence of the Roman Empire and the huevos rancheros and damn-the-torpedoes of the British Empire.
The Americans don't want to conquer, they just want to trade, and then go home. Someday soon they may have to accept their destiny, forget armies of liberation or occupation, and simply conquer.
Wouldn't that be an interesting change?

Currently, no question about it. In the distant future, probably not. The deterioration of our borders, language, and culture and most importantly, our national pride, will lead to the sharp decline of society. America can only survive if we, as a nation, fear God. The way the wind is blowing, it looks as if more and more Americans are ignoring the sovereignty of God and the importance of His law. Most likely our nation will be overrun from within. Think about the Islamic trojan horse.

No military can come close to competing with ours. We still have the largest economy and are the hub of international trade. As a political power, there's a reason everyone demands that we broker treaties in the middle east.
