I know teachers don't consider it a valid source. Is it because "anyone" can edit it? I feel sort of bothered because I saw something that didn't seem accurate, & then a couple of hrs. later I saw it deleted. & also, I saw where they said this singer (I won't reveal her name) supposedly dated this guy in high school-but it sounded made up from a guy who obviously had a crush or fantasy about her & made the story seem as if she loved him. But I can tell it was a "fan" saying something false & stupid.

The fact that anyone with a wikipedia account can change the information on virtually ANY wikipedia page. therefor the content could be inaccurate.

You kind of answered your own question. It's unreliable because anyone can edit the information.

its the general knowledge of the public. you use it to get a quick glance of knowledge of something. but you cannot use it as a valid source because it is consider to be everyone's opinion.

because its edited by anyone who thinks that they know about the subject that they are editing... I know people who know just enough about computers to be dangerous... but that does not stop them from believeing that they are computer experts...
