If you are installing with thinset or adhesive, no. In fact, doing so can prevent a proper bond. If they are not ceramic, but are an unglazed tile, yes.

I don't want to get into a brawl, but since you disputed my answer I'd like to clarify. The CERAMIC TILE INSTITUTE recommends wetting unglazed tile.

Under no circumstance should you soak your tile prior to installation. Wet tiles don't adhere well. Even if it's an unglazed product like slate you would install it dry. The only difference being that you want to seal the slate prior to grouting.

I'd add two cents but it seems you have enough of the correct answer. I did have a Q&A person in contact however that stated he was advised to MIST the grout over a curing period; which I've never done in 45 years of installing tile.
