If a guy doesn't know or even understand what a period is then he need help.
The best is that you first go talk to you doctor (hopefully he will be a male) and arrange to bring him your boyfriend.
And then convince your boyfriend to follow you and bring him to visit your doctor.
You could tell him that here is a medical problem and you think it's best that he hears from your doctor.
And then let your doctor fill him in.
Good luck

Hello Shasta,
Kicking him in the nether regions might give him some idea of the kind of pain some ladies go through during your period, but I am not suggesting you do it (LoL).
My suggestion is to give him a basic outline of why and how your menstrual cycle works but sit him in front of the PC Screen and click on a couple of good websites dealing with it.
That way he can read about it for himself and anything you may miss should be covered there also.
A couple of websites are given below:
http://floorwax.blogspot.com/
http://www.womenshealthmatters.ca/centres/sex/femalebody/menstrualcycle.html
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/sexandrelationships/sex/200501.html
I hope these sites will be of help.
Poseidon
PS please don't get so frustrated that you feel the need to kick him where it really, teally hurts. I know what thats like.

Tell him to look it up on the internet. lol. exactly how old is he that he doesn't know. haha. Or just tell him that it's when girl have to get rid of their "unfertilized egg" and it gives them cramps and junk that they don't want. haha. I have a lot of girl friends so I just sort of picked it up over the years. haha. cause they would always complain and stuff. guys will never fully understand your pain, but we could at least, try and make you comfortable... that's what I do for my friends.

(insert rubbishy symptoms here). He probably knows more than you think, just hasn't put 2 and 2 together yet! peacex
