Ok so this chick in my class she needs a macintosh laptop for school. Her parents give her the option of a black macbook, or a macbook pro. She gets the macbook because "she likes the color". At first I thought I shouldn't judge women by the act of one person, however after all other girls in my class supported her, I lost all respect for women. This is why America cannot afford to have a female president. Note: I go to a private school, so this is about as smart as women my age get. What do you think? Oh by the way I don't actually feel that all women follow the stereotype I am sure that about 20% don't, but none of those 20% are in my grade.

Girls in our society are encouraged to act fluffy and air-headed in social situations, in order to appear "cute" and "feminine". It's how we are raised, just as men are generally raised to not show emotions. Your classmate probably recognized the vapidity of her statement even as she said it, but rather than deterring her from saying it, it probably encouraged her to. I've caught myself saying similar things before for the same reasons, and it's incredibly annoying.

And, just as a side note, I think you may be leaping to conclusions with "I go to a private school, so this is about as smart as women my age get." Private schools are indication of parents' financial resources, not necessarily intellectual capabilities. Often, private school kids can be very sheltered, leading to a kind of "let them eat cake" ignorance that can be mistaken for inherent stupidity. I hate to admit it, but in high school, I always thought men were intellectually inferior to women, because whenever any subject more complex than "that dude Chad's next party" came up, the male response would invariably be something along the lines of, "shiiiit, whatever." When I went to college and was exposed to a wider spectrum of people, I realized that men could be as smart as women, and generally intelligence varied from individual to individual.

Don't settle *too* quickly on such a decisive opinion only based on experiences in just one social institution.

I think you're confusing smart with maturity. Perhaps these girls are immature and into material things. And a group of young girls tend to support each other in situations like this rather than express an independant opinion that may be unpopular. Your stereotyping this rather unimportant-in-the-real-world situation into an argument against a woman president or all women in general (less the 20% that you exempted - which I'm sure you went to great lengths to mathematically come to this conclusion), could very well give me ammunition to do the same to you. Such as, women are smarter than men because we wouldn't be so narrowminded as to judge and loose respect for all other women based on a handful of girls in a classroom. Do you see how silly that sounds? It would be ridiculous of me to come to that conclusion.

Neither are smarter. Smarts does not mean much specific. Men are more logical, and women are more emotional. Both could get the same task done in different ways. But overall yes according to hard statistics men are more intellegent than women. None of us chose those facts. But everyone has their place. Our babies would cry a lot more if there were no women. Macnitosh would explode upwards if there were no men lol. But frankly your story backs up what i've always been saying about macnitosh and their success in general.

It's wrong of you to think that because you go to a private school that's as smart as they get. On the other hand, because you go to a private school, that's as rich as they get. It's just as wrong to think that because someone is in higher level classes they are smarter than others who are not. Now that that's out of the way, to judge women based on what computer they chose is ridiculous. I'd assume you'd base it on something actually intellectual. Also, the U.S can't afford a female president right now (e.g. Hillary) because she's not right for us. Not because stereotypically we like to choose things based on appearance, which is what you are doing as well..

Not a good way of thinking. Just because some of the girls you hang out in in your isolated, narrow fiew of the world act a certain way, doesn't mean they all do.

I grew up in a really small town, and thought that girls, all girls, acted a certain way. Then I moved out to a large city and went ot college...the whole world changed.

Wait until you've lived life and had more life experiences before making an assumption such as this.

certain she replaced into extremely sensible (smarter than you). For i'm certain she might want to have the means to inform the version between the position and were. P.S - That comic tale is old, only a distinct version of a blond and brunette comic tale.

What possible difference does it make that she chose it because of the color? Men do the same thing with cars all the time, does choosing something because of a color make men just as stupid? If the thing works, and does what she needs it to do, then she is not stupid, just wants it in that color.

that's absurd. picking one product over another because of the color does not make someone a stupid person. by 'private school', i'm assuming you mean you're in high school. most high school girls are materialistic, it doesn't make them less intelligent. men do the same thing. you'll always have your fair share of men and women that make ridiculous decisions, that doesn't make them any less intelligent because of it.

She made that desicion because she wanted to. Now, in my opinion, Mac's suck. But, both are good computers I suppose, and so she made the final desicion based on her own personal interest. I think the other girls in the calss agreed with her because it was her own desicion, and it wouldn't make a difference whether they said otherwise.

Well, I tend to say yes since historically and traditionally, women can only do so much. I mean, we aren't black widows and live in a matiarchy. Women aren't built the same way as men nor are they equivalent to us in any way. Men, I say, are more book-smart than women...but street-wise...i'd say the latter for reasons proven above doubt...lol.
