Perhaps. In order to run barefoot to catch someone, I would have to have sufficient motivation. This could include (but is not limited to) catching a thief who has stolen something valuable, catching up to somebody whom I have something to tell, or catching a person leaping from a building. Whether or not I would run barefoot depends on several things, such as the frictional coefficient of the ground surface, the temperature of the air, and the fact of whether I was wearing footwear along with the type of footwear at the precise moment when I decided to run and catch the person. I can estimate at this time, that assuming I have already made the decision to run and catch someone, there would be a 73.4% chance that I would run barefoot, due to my relatively frequent use of sandals.

I'm always barefoot but I can't remember when was the last time I ran after someone. Probably haven't done that since playing tag as a child.

Yes, shoes slow me down, barefeet speed me up. I hope who ever I am chasing is barefoot too, or else I will catch up to them.

If I was already barefoot, then I would. Stopping to put on shoes would waste time.

Yes, otherwise I would have to waste time putting on shoes. It might take me a while to find them too.
