I am watching a "Leave it to Beaver" marathon, and the pilot episode featured a different "Ward Cleaver" and "Wally Cleaver"!!!
I was just wondering why the two actors who played those characters were replaced?

Does anyone really know???
Was there any specific reason why those two actors didn't continue in the series?

I've always adored the show and also the cast of actors who I know and recognize as Ward, Wally, June and The Beaver Cleaver on the long running Leave it to Beaver
Series...

I'm just curious to know the reason why they chose to replace those two characters????
Does ANYONE know????????

Ward Cleaver is played by character actor Max Showalter (aka Casey Adams). He played some minor movie roles; I remember him being credited in the 1953 Marilyn Monroe movie, 'Niagara'. Wally is played by Paul Sullivan. I assume someone at CBS made the decision to replace the 2 actors upon viewing the pilot for the show, originally titled 'It's A Small World'. I agree with the earlier answer about the lack of chemistry with the 2 replaced actors- and Paul Sullivan wore his pants too high! I remember Richard Deacon (Fred Rutherford) in the pilot as the Franklin Milk Company boss and Diane Brewster as his secretary (Miss Simms) who later played Miss Canfield, Beaver's teacher.

Ugh! I am watching the pilot episode right this very minute. The original Wally is a sluggish oaf who can't act worth a lick! He looks like a 40 yr old man trapped in a 5 foot tall body and his personality is just about as exciting as a box of hair. No wonder they replaced him! As for the fake Ward, with that silk smoking jacket and bug eyed demeneor, he looks like a washed out version of Gomez of the Adams Family! Clearly they got the boot because of zero chemistry with the rest of the talented class.

nicely appeared on the MySpace indexed in those solutions and that's genuinely him. on the third video i watched he had hair.. so i don't know on the subject of the hair loss ingredient. i know i observed some comments approximately him starring in a action picture to boot. i do no longer in all probability know for specific what made him come to a call to head away the show, yet i know my daughter neglected him while he initially left... and now my 2 12 months. previous son watches re-runs and while Joe is on he asks,"Ahs Steve?"

I don't know the answer to your question, but my husband and I just finished watching the pilot episode on TV Land.
I don't know about you, but I'm glad they got rid of those two actors.
Hugh Beaumont and Tony Dow did a much better job than those other two actors.
Maybe that's why they got rid of them, they can't act!
