Sensitive souls living in ever-growing concrete cities with noise pollution, crave to run far away from the madding crowd.
The heart yearns to seek a cottage,by the side of a brook, near green meadows and a little hillock; where one can be his self and not worrying about etiquettes all the time. So that he could run towards the inviting rainbow, jump with the little lamb, sing with the bulbul, lying under the shade of a tree play on flute and get into reverie!
But where can you find it?
You relax and unwind yourself.
Remember what a poet has said :
"Stone walls, do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars, a cage!
Minds innocent take it as their hermitage!"
It is the mind that makes it. Get over it , loose your exalted ego behind and meet your neighbour, without your early perceptions, you will discover a good samaritan neglected till then!
Even in cities, one could find what he needs, if only he sets his mental antennae aright.

I know the perfect place .Bedarra Island,Great Barrier Reef.A Tropical Paradise.(better than the countryside) No TV.No Radio. No Newspapers..Just the gentle lapping of the beautiful crystal clear water on the shore and the sounds of tropical birds creating a symphony of music in the air.Gentle rain falling down creating beautiful rainbows painting the distant sky.Iridescent blue butterflies dancing in the air. What do you think ?

you don't need to verbalise anything. There will be grizzly bears in Canadar, There will be Tigers (if they still are) in Himalayas, There will be Lions and Cheetah's in Africa, There would be Dingo's in Austraila, There will be Talibans in Afghanistan who will not give you a chance. They will take good care of the 50kg flesh.
Jokes apart. Why are you craving for the external peace? You will get tangled in the same web when you see a bird nest.
Rather look for inner peace in Medication.
check out Vipassana Meditation Website at www.dhamma.org. Where you are not supposed to talk to any one except your teacher that too when you have a relevant query about his / her teachings.

The first place that comes to my mind is Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. Perfect for such an undertaking. No talking is necessary, the birds tweet, the deer come down from the hills, you can feel the raindrops. And the grass is just begging for you to dance to the tune of your inner joy!

The Pacific Northwest. I have spent time out there and it is heaven on earth. The sunsets are incredible and the fresh air and scenic majesty is inspiring. You can really feel the beauty and spirit of nature like no place else. I have lived in NYC for the last 12 years and I am planning on moving to Portland, OR permanently in two years. I feel what you are saying, though- I am the same way.

I loved the beauty of the Gaspé, everything from seashore to farmland to forest to mountain and arctic tundra, if you could not find a place to be happy there, there is no such place on earth. To look across at the shore of New Brunswick and watch the Northern Lights as they dance. To watch the whales, and to be able to reach out from a small boat and pat the head of a pilot whale. To have a moose calf nursing on the corner of a sheet hanging from your clothesline. Both French and English tend to be more basic and direct and respect people's needs and differences there, perhaps they are closer to day to day reality.

Any villages in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Madhyapradesh and so on. You can even try the Himalayas if you wish. But then, do not demand electricity, mobile phones, internet, five course food and the like. Make a choice!
What questions people ask!

Montana mountains or Alaska where you need a heli to get your supplies replenished. Then again, I recommend that you try it out for a month or two during your vacation before committing to it. You're probably more urbanized than you think.
