Maybe because it was not a victory. The Ukrainian president, whos party only won 15% of the vote in this election, just announced that he will totally ouster the Prime Minister's party which won the majority at 35%. He also said he will form a government with the woman who won 32% of the vote, and the Communist party (which won 5%).

Of course, the Prime Minister, the woman, and the Communists (who combined accounted for 72% of the votes) have also just announced that they will split the country into 2 halves if the president illegally ousters the majority party against the wishes of the voters.

I bet THAT "victory for the West" will be reported in the US - "Ukrainian president causes division of country by not following the votes of the people". Quite a democratic headline, eh?

Don't confuse the Ukrainian president with Ukraine. It wasn't a Western victory - this man wants to be a dictator.

it was a victory for a political party in Ukraine, If you want a lot of coverage read European papers ,like Moscow times or Eastern Europe Today both in English, but I fail to see how this was a western victory, the Communist party is still a political option and can run in the next election cycle. the cold war is over... pal does 1989 ring a bell.

Maybe because the West, contrary to the delusions fo the right wing, isn't the be-all and end-all of human civilization.

The Ukranian people made a change in their internal political leadership--and probably a good one. Why do so many idiots in the West think they need our help to do that?

Because it would be impossible to do so without giving credit to Ronald Reagan the great conservative who brought down the Soviet Union and made such elections possible in the Ukraine.

The left in America has all but completely ignored that great feat of leadership. I bet the people who formerly lived under the Soviet boot heel remember.
