-- the purpose of the mosquito is to feed the bat, the purpose of grass is to feed the cow, the purpose of the lion is to lean the herds of sick or old ... what is the purpose of the human being?

In a materialistic world view, nothing has a purpose. Not plants nor mosquitoes nor humans. No purpose and we all have a meaningless existence. In this case, your question is meaningless. It would be like asking the purpose of a pebble on Mars.

That is not true of a Christian world view because Christians believe in a Creator who gave purpose.

To seek purpose and meaning, we must seek God. If God exists, He must have put our need for purpose and meaning into our human nature to point us to seek Him.

Your premise is wrong - all life entities do not have a "purpose". Mosquitoes just do whatever they do. They don't exist to feed bats. In many places there are no bats (or, to use your second example, no cows to eat grass) - are mosquitoes "purposeless" in those places? No. Life simply exists; just like the universe simply exists. Existence is a great enough mystery. We seek purpose only because we're obsessed with our own mortality. Take a look at a cat some time - it doesn't fret about what its purpose is. It just exists.

Look at it the other way:

Mosquitos weren't designed to feed bats.
Bats evolved because mosquitos were a good food source.
So, the purpose of a bat is to eat mosquitos.

The purpose of grass is to live.
The purpose of the cow is to live.
The cow eats grass to live, the grass does not grow to feed the cow.

The lion was not designed to lean the herd of sick or old
The lion was designed to eat cows, the slower the better
Therefore, the purpose of the lion is to eat herdlings

Humans make their own purpose, because they are smart enough to.

Basically, Evolution is a blind process. Nothing has a purpose. Its just opportunity and probablity.

Your premise is totally and utterly false.

The purpose of mosquitos (more often moths) is NOT to feed bats. The purpose of grass is NOT to feed the cow. The purpose of the lion is NOT to 'lean the herds'.

Human beings, biologically speaking have the same 'purpose' as any living organism - to replicate their genetic material.

I expect you're religious to have such an anthropocentric view? We humans are able to invent our own purposes, that's what makes us unique.

A question that is asked many a time..
But it bears many answers which we shall maybe never know..
Some say that humans are simply under the control of a greater force - such as another race bigger than us, or faith or gods...
Perhaps we are just players on a game board.. this life being were we should cheat or play by the rules..

But sometimes I ask myself.. why play by the rules when we win nothing? But who nows whats after deaths stare?

your questions is the just one spoke of the key that opens the door to endless questions.
