It is my opinion that if a person chooses to smoke which is their right (of course only to the pursuit of happiness), then they should all be rounded up and not allowed to smoke except in one designated building with no ventilation, so all of the smoke stays in the building and unless they pledge to not smoke they must remain in that building breathing only smoke for the rest of their lives. Of course, that is only our (non-smokers) fantasy, but sounds good doesn't it?

honestly smoking should be banned, because second handed smoke kills. it's not fair that non-smokers have to breathe in secondhanded smoke because some people choose to pollute their lungs.

I don't think that will work too good. What I would like to see is the government outlawing the manufacture and sell of cigarettes altogether. But that will never happen because of the tax money the governments (Federal, state, and local) makes off cigarettes and all tobacco products.

I've only seen one government official be truthful about raising taxes on cigarettes. That was Governor Rick Perry of Texas when he got passed a law increasing taxes on cigarettes a $1.00 a pack. He said it was to finance the state school system.
The rest of them will all lie out their teeth saying they are passing increased cigarette taxes for anti smoking campaigns etc etc etc. increased health care cost etc etc etc.

That is the whole problem: The governments (state, federal and local) are making too much money off the things.
