I'm going to Las Vegas for vacation with other family members. I was going to spend my b-day there but the tickets and other factors make it impossible.

If I'm one or two weeks away from turning 21, would they allow me to gamble or even walk into the casinos? Or would they be soo strict that I have to be at least on my birthday in order to gamble or walk in?

You could walk into the casinos but you can't gamble no matter if your b-day is tomorrow that is if you get asked for an ID but I'm pretty sure you could gamble but don't act nervous if you see a security guard just act normal and gamble , the only thing is if you hit the jackpot over a 1,000$ you're not going to be able to claim you winnings since you're under 21 but if it's less then 1,000$ like 900$ then don't worry.
Have fun and enjoy the weather make sure to bring some sweaters or jackets because the weather at this time is at least 61 degrees.

It is too difficult to pick just one, and you will know what I mean once you get there. Each Casino has it's special mark in Las Vegas. I go to Vegas a few times a year, not only to gamble, but I just love the experience, so here's a few that I like the best and why...... I love playing Blacjack, and Casino Royale in mid-strip has $5.00 tables which allow you to play for very little and play for long periods of time without losing your wallet........ not to mention Free drinks while you play... (remember to tip the waitress and she'll keep'em coming. If Luxury is a little more your style, than Mandalay Bay is my favorite. I love the Hotel as a whole, very upbeat and lively at all times. Great mix of the bars and the casino if you like to drink at the bar between games... Have met a lot of nice people at the bars there. Of course you cannot go wrong with places like the Venitian, the Mirage and Caesars Palace.... They are great hotel-casinos with lots to do. Honestly you'll have to figure it out for yourself. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about once you get there. You'll find it very interesting how each individual hotel has a personality of its own and how they present themselves to you in such a way that you'll find yourself saying... oh this one is my favorite or no no... this one is my favorite. But since you did ask, I would have to say that my favorite Hotel of them all is the MGM Grand..... for me you simply can't beat it.... You can spend you're entire time in Vegas there........ It's the biggest Hotel-Casino overall and it shows, Lion Exhibits, awesome nightclubs, bars, every type of restaurant you can think of... the pool is amazing, and best of all, the monorail starts there, so you can hop on the train and go most anywhere on the strip in minutes. If it is your first time going there.... I would do a few things a lot of people don't think about doing because it is too expensive..... but if you do these things, it will make your experience that much more memorable.... For example, you can get a limo to pick you up at the airport, take you for a little ride down the strip and then to your hotel, plus a bottle of champagne for less than $100 bucks. Better yet, and something people don't very often do is take the helicopter tour over Las Vegas, it is an incredible experience ( be sure to bring your camera, you'll want to take some pictures ). Anyways, it cost less than $150 to do that with your partner if you have one...... or not... As far as the shows go, you know its like watching a movie, how many times have you seen a movie that won an Oscar and you said... How in the world! Well, the same with the shows in Las Vegas, only you will be able to say if they were good or not. People just have different taste. But one thing is for sure, any show that you go see in Las Vegas, there is a very good probability that you will like, since if the show is there, it is because it is one of the best at what it does. I hope you have a good time, be safe, and good luck!!! I almost forgot, don't forget to get your "player's club cards" at every hotel you go and gamble in..... they are FREE and show them every time you gamble anywhere in that Hotel, you will get comps, and when you go back home, they will have your information and you will receive nice junk mail, which will sometimes have great specials for your next Vegas Vacation....

Let's just say this. You can walk into the casino and you can gamble if you do not look young. It's your choice if you want to chance getting caught sine the law is 21. The casinos have security, but they are not at every door or entrance. If you want to walk through and not gamble, just to get a feel for it, I believe you will be just fine, especially in a group of other adults.

Unless you are offically 21, you can't gamble. You can walk thru, but you can not loiter. They reserve the right to ask anyone for ID at any time - and they do. (I'm over 30 and was ID'ed almost daily this past spring.) If you chance it, play and win, you can not cash out, therefore you forefit the winnings. It's not worth it.

When I was 9 days away from being 21 I was thrown out of the MGM Grand for playing.

They will not let you gamble at 20. They are strict. Casinos can lose their gaming license if they allow anyone under 21 to gamble.

They are WAY more patient with people of any age walking in, as long as they do not stay too long near the gaming areas. Again...it's MORE because they can LOSE their gaming license if they allow "minors" or anyone under 21 to loiter in gaming areas.

Why would you want to take a chance and get thrown out of a casino for being under age. There are a lot things you can do in Las Vegas besides gambling. Here is a list of free activities and entertainment for under 21's

You can not be anywhere near the gambling areas. You can walk through, but you can not stop anywhere. You must keep walking at all times ... most of the casinos have a different color carpet in the isles where you are allowed to walk. Those are the only areas you can be in.

Walk in yes, even touch a machine or go near a table NO!

They have to be strict or they will lose their license and we are talking about a multimillion dollar a day organization. They can't afford even 1 underage gambler. You need to wait until you actually are 21.

A piece of advice. Leave your credit card at home. Set aside just how much money you are willing to lose and stick to it. Notice I said how much you plan to lose, because you will lose. Look at the multimillion dollar furnishings, they aren't there because people get rich at casinos, they are there because people go broke at casinos. You can even sell your return ticket and get stuck in Las Vegas forever.

even if the next day is your bday, they still won't let you gamble nor stick around the slot machines or tables for a long time. If you do gamble and win the jackpot and ur gonna be 21 the next day or whatever, your not gonna recieve that money.

you will not be ALLOWED even in the casino until 12:01 AM on the date of your 21 birthday. This is NEVADA STATE law! you WILL be ask for picture ID as Proof of age. you CAN enjoy the non-gaming activities offered by the hotel, ie swimming pool, spa. HINT: on your birthday, ask "floor person or Pit manger" in gaming area for free meal as birthday gift. most will do it!
