It is helpful if you convert the fractions such that they all have the same denominator (the part on the bottom)

Alicia owns (7/12)
Erica owns (1/6) = (2/12)

There is 1 business. 1 = (12/12)

Alicia's fraction + Erica's fraction + Hannah's fraction = the whole business

The whole business - Alicia's fraction - Erica's fraction = Hannah's fraction.

(12/12) - (7/12) - (2/12) = Hannah's fraction
(12/12) - (9/12) = Hannah's fraction
(3/12) = Hannah's fraction
(1/4) = Hannah's fraction

Well you know that the total amount of the business is 1, so that's how much that the total of each person's share has to add up to.

Now note that 1 is the same as 1/1 is the same as 12/12

so Alicia owns 7/12 and Erica owns 1/6=2/12

So together they own 7/12+2/12=9/12

Then you know the total is 12/12, so Hannah must own:
12/12-9/12=3/12 (which reduces to 1/4)

Make everything into 12ths.

Out of the whole thing (12/12ths) Alicia has 7/12 so there are 5/12ths left. Erica owns 1/6ht which is 2/12ths. When you take that away from those 5/12ths you have only 3/12ths left. So Hannah owns 3/12ths which can be expressed as 1/4th by dividing the numerator and denominator by 3.

Bottom line is Hannah owns 1/4th

7/12 and 1/6 have a common denominator = 12

Alicia owns 7/12 and Erica owns 1/6 or 2/12

the whole business is =1 or 12/12
Alicia +Erica own 7/12 +2/12 = 9/12

Hannah owns the rest = 12/12-9/12 = 3/12

The GCF is 12

Alicia = 7/12
Erica = 1/6 or 2/12

Hannah owns the rest of it

12/12 - 7/12 - 2/12 =
3/12 of the business

The whole business is 12/12. Add 1/6 and 7/12.... that's the part that Hannah doesn't own. She owns 12/12 - (1/6 + 7/12)

Think you can do the arithmetic?

1-7/12-1/6
=1-9/12

As a variation on the other answers, add the two known parts of Alicia and Erica and decimalise them.
So we have 0.58333333... + 0.166666..... and this adds to 0.7499999... i.e. 0.75 .
So Hannah owns (1-0.75) i.e. 0.25 or 1/4 or 25%.
