Flip phones are annoying to use. They have to be opened everytime to dial a number or to read text messages, and some of them to see who calls.
Why do people like them so much?
I prefer candy bar like phones.

i hate flip phones i had a flip phone and it snapped in half from opening nad closing it so often i love the candy bar phones so cute and easier to use.

With a closed flip phone, you are a lot less likely to accident dial someone you didn't mean to call. Woman that carry cell phones in their purse particularly know what I am talking about.
Also, a flip phone extends out and is shaped like a traditional phone receiver. The longer phone means the microphone is closer to your mouth when the speaker is in your ear. Some people believe this makes their transmission clearer.

Flip phones protect the key pad. With other exposed key pad layouts you have to lock the keypad to avoid accidentally dialling 911 when you're putting it in your pocket. There's the other fact that they fold up to half the size, and if you really want to get technical, the bend in the phone causes the antenna to aim away (45 degree angle) your head instead of alongside your head, which decreases the amount of exposure your brain has to the frequency...not that that's a biggie as the amount generated and received is still too small to create longterm problems

It's just cool to flip them open when you get a call or text. I love flip phones!

I like flip phones because so when I place it in my purse or pocket it won't be hitting any of the buttons. I don't want it accidently calling some1 or especially using up my Min's!!!

I know that the reason my mother likes flip phones is because she used alot of her minutes when she forgot to shut her other phone off once..
So with flip phones when you flip them down there off..

They just look cool, and that's why people like them so much. And they tend to be smaller when flipped, so they're easier to fit in your pocket. I have a candy bar like phone, and I hate it since it's so bulky. I can't fit it in my pants pocket without it looking like a tumor, so I just have to carry it in my purse.

love them!!
Dont have to worry about buttons accidentally being pushed while in my purse. lost all my minutes on my old pay as you go phone that way!
Also, they remind me of the communicator on star trek!! And I love that "clap" sound they make when you close them!! LOL!

Didn't think I'd like a flip phone, but now I have one & I love it.... same goes for my husband.
