Hi, I'm 33 years old and my blood test shows my progesterone level is very low. I've been having irregular periods and breasts pain. About a week ago, my left breast (between my breasts) was in pain. It wasn't sharp pan, more like dull pain (I can feel the pain when I press) Then about a couple days ago, both of my breasts were in pain. I am waiting for my period to come. I'm wondering if my breast pain is due to low progesterone level. Also, I heard low progesterone level can cause breast cancer. I went to my OB and he did a physical exam. He didn't find anything but I'm very concerned because the pain won't go away. Please help

As for the breast cancer aspect of progesterone, it's possible but many breast cancer cases are related to estrogen only. Some like my mom have a combination of estrogen (the higher percentage number) and progesterone (lower percentage number).

Low progesterone could also potentially cause breast pain.

Ask your doctor about the possibility of a condition called costochondritis as well because it can cause pain around the breast area too. I had a lot of breast pain as one of my symptoms for this condition. Costochondritis is an inflammatory condition affecting the cartillage around the ribcage.
