My personal opinion is that the main experience that many Americans have with France is from vacationing in Paris, and I think it's quite well-known that people in Paris don't seem to be very accommodating to tourists. I'm sure it's a two-way street because Parisians are likely pretty tired of people who don't act with respect in a different country. But at any rate, American tourists often come away with the impression that French people are rude, when this is actually not a good representation of the country as a whole but rather just Paris. Once you've decided you don't like a group of people, you can find it easy to criticize many things they do.

I went to France in 2007 and I liked it very much. some American people had feelings related to politics but it was in no way most American people. I also visit Mexico on a regular basis and I know the Mexican people are very friendly.
There are a few Americans who go over board in the name of patriotism and feel that any country who ever waged war with the USA is their enemy. Most Americans do not think this way.

Not all Americans hate France or the French. It is mainly the French gov't that is not liked. Their president has been in power too long and never really cared for the US. Because of that and the fact that the French gov't usually votes against the US and GB withing the UN, is a main reason.

Americans hate France because the French hate America, simply because France has been on top for almost 100 years, and now America's on top.

no its a long history of things the French and American people and governments used to be really close they help us get Independence from England and we help them get liberated from Germany twice the big problem started in Vietnam the French was there occupying it from after WWII and when they got threw out by the Communist from China and Vietnam we got involved and then the French left us high and dry and this has continued through the 70' to present day and they tend to thumb their noses at us now like they are better than us and oppose anything we do in the world of events

It's because most of them can't even locate France on a map, let alone understand anything else about the French.

I like France I just hate the Charles de Gaulle airport. I had a hard time there with the French people who worked there, and trying to file a police report on some stolen property (uh the "police station" on the directory is apparently a broom closet) and just being treated rudely in general. I think its them who don't like us. Everyone wanted to tell me how much George Bush sucks and I just wanted my luggage and to get the hell out of there. Please don't judge our whole country on one person and we won't judge you for your indifference and Jacques Chirac (I'm sorry but he's just another one of those opposing Bush to get more votes in his pocked and because it's popular not because it's good for diplomacy)
