The few that I've licked tasted salty

I would imagine it would be somewhat salty and somewhat metallic tasting.
Sodium and Potassium are two of the major ions floating in the ESF or (extracellular fluid). Sodium produces a "salty" taste, which is highly concentrated in the sweat, tears, and urine.
The metallic taste would come from the blood. It is rich in iron which is what causes hematocrit levels to rise, as well as other proteins.
And considering that these substances go through the bloodstream and into muscle tissues, that's what I'd IMAGINE it would taste like. I have no further proof.
