The wolf sons of Loki (i.e. Hati and Skold) catch and devour the moon during Ragnarok. The moon diminishes during the end of days in christian mythology. One African tribe shoots arrows at the moon during an eclipse to chase away the serpent which they claim to believe is swallowing it (it is doubtful that there truly exists much weight to their "belief", however, as the mood is one of festivity). Werewolves are granted a reprieve from their curse during the eclipse (they are allowed to stay human during this time). Eclipses also signal war, devastation, and loss of civilization. Can't think of any others right off-hand.

First you need to state what kind of eclipse. Sun or Moon, full or partial.

The full eclipse of the Sun has been used in telling scary stories for about as long as humankind has been articulate.

In many Native American cultures, as well as in India and China, it was believed that during a solar eclipse, a wolf, a snake, or a frog was trying to swallow the sun. They would use rattles, drums, fireworks, etc. to make it so frightened that it would puke the sun out and run away.
